Year 5 and Year 6

Our Year 5 and 6 students have been experimenting with oil pastels and developing their artistic skills in preparation for their upcoming self-portrait project. Students explored a range of techniques, including blending colours, layering, creating different textures and using varied pressure to achieve different effects. They practised these skills on a template sheet, building their confidence and discovering how oil pastels can be used to create depth, detail and expression in their artwork.

Next week, students will put their new skills into practice as they begin creating their own self-portraits, exploring how artists can use colour, line and texture to represent themselves creatively.

Performing Arts

Year 1 and Year 2

Our Year 1 and 2 students have been developing their drama skills by exploring how to tell stories without using words! Through fun drama games, students have been experimenting with body movements, gestures and facial expressions to communicate different characters, actions and feelings. They are now putting these skills into practice as they explore the familiar story Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Working collaboratively in small groups, students are rehearsing and performing scenes from the story using mime, bringing the characters and events to life through movement and expression. This learning is helping students build confidence, develop their storytelling skills and discover how drama can communicate a story to an audience without speaking.
