Grade 2 Students painted Australian birds in Art. First they observed photographs of birds, identifying shapes, colours and patterns. They then did a sketch in their journals before working on their good copy. Students used a sponge to create a blurry background similar to the photograph and to allow the bird to stand out. They focused on paint brush control and colour mixing when painting the bird.
