Community Safety🏫🚸
Recently, I have noticed an increase in students arriving at school prior to supervision commencing at 8:45am. Students who arrive before this time must be actively supervised by a parent/carer to help ensure everyone remains safe before the school day begins.
I also ask families not to use the Alban Street staff car park as a pedestrian shortcut into the school grounds. This area is not designed for pedestrian access and vehicle movement creates a significant safety risk. I ask that all families instead use the designated school entrances.
Finally, I have received reports of rough play occurring before and after school while families remain on site. I am asking all parents/carers to actively supervise their children during these times and support the reinforcement of safe and respectful play expectations.
Comedy Night - Silent Auction Donations 🎭😂
Our upcoming Comedy Night is shaping up to be a fantastic community event and I am thrilled to share that tickets have now completely sold out. Thank you to everyone in our community for getting on board so quickly and supporting the event so enthusiastically.
We are now seeking donations for our silent auction, which will run alongside the evening. If you or your business are able to contribute a prize or experience, I would greatly appreciate your support. All funds raised will go towards our planned oval upgrade, which I will continue to update you on below.
If you have something you would like to donate, please see me or contact the school office.
Oval Update 🏟️🌱
For those who may have missed my previous update, work continues behind the scenes in relation to a potential upgrade of our school oval.
I have recently taken a positive step forward, with the school signing a partnership agreement with AFL Victoria through their Breaking New Ground program, and hosting an initial site visit with their representatives and landscape contractors. This work remains in the investigation and planning phase, and I am currently awaiting feedback on some early assessment works.
I will continue to keep the community informed as this progresses. I am also exploring the possibility of including this project in our Capital Works application this year, noting that this is a highly competitive process.
National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week 🕊️💛
This week I acknowledged National Sorry Day and the beginning of National Reconciliation Week - an important time to reflect on our shared history and our collective responsibility to build a more respectful and inclusive future.
Earlier this week, a group of our Year 6 leaders attended the National Sorry Day Healing Ceremony at Malahang Reserve alongside myself and a few MPS families. Our students represented the school with great respect and maturity throughout the ceremony.
The school also recognised National Reconciliation Week at Friday’s assembly, taking time as a school community to reflect on the importance of understanding, connection and reconciliation.
2027 Foundation Enrolments 🎒🏫
A reminder to current families that enrolment requests for Foundation 2027 are now being accepted at the school office. This is particularly relevant for families with younger siblings starting school, or for those who have friends or neighbours beginning their school journey in 2027. The school would appreciate your support in helping to spread the word.
