Father’s Day

On Sunday, we celebrate Father’s Day and give thanks for all the fathers, grandfathers and special men who play an important role in the lives of our children and families. We recognise and celebrate the love, care, guidance and support they provide, and the many ways they help our children grow and flourish.

As we celebrate Father’s Day, we also take a moment to honour St Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus. A carpenter by trade, Joseph was chosen by God to be the foster father of His Son and the husband of Mary. Joseph was a man of deep faith, humility and quiet strength. He faithfully cared for Mary and Jesus, providing them with love, protection and guidance.

Although the Gospels do not record many words spoken by Joseph, his actions speak loudly. He trusted in God, responded faithfully to God's call and placed the needs of his family before his own. His example reminds us that fatherhood is not simply about providing for a family, but also about being present, loving, patient, protective and supportive.

St Joseph’s example encourages all fathers and father figures to lead with love, faith and compassion and to be a positive presence in the lives of their children. We also recognise that Father’s Day can be a difficult day for some members of our community. We keep in our prayers those who have lost their fathers, those who may be separated from their fathers, and all those who do not have a father or special male figure in their lives.

We wish all the fathers, grandfathers and special men in our community a very Happy Father’s Day and thank them for all that they do for our children and families.

Father’s Day Prayer Service

We will come together as a school community to pray for and celebrate our fathers, grandfathers and special men at our Father’s Day Prayer Service tomorrow Friday 4th September at 9.00am in St Martin de Porres Church.

The Prayer Service will be led by Year 1, and we warmly invite all families to join us for this special celebration. It will be a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together in prayer and give thanks for the important men who help nurture, guide and support our children.

We look forward to celebrating with you.
