Learning Power Award Recipients

Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for demonstrating one or more of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday, during our whole-school assembly, the following students were acknowledged, and their learning was described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

Week 7

PA

Maxwell

This award goes to you for your motivation during Writing lessons. You made a great inference about how a character was feeling in our very first lesson about inferring, also including great vocabulary and labels in your writing and drawings. Thank you Maxwell for trying your best and a little bit more, well done!

Avni

For being a reflective learner who shows wonderful persistence when writing tasks feel challenging. You demonstrate a growth mindset by seeking feedback to make your work even better. You approach learning with a deep desire to understand, listening carefully to both your teachers and classmates to learn from everyone around you. Keep up the fantastic effort!

For showing wonderful resilience in your learning. You have been working hard to stay on the carpet during whole-class learning and have shown determination to have a go at your learning tasks. Even when something feels tricky, you are learning to keep trying and use the support around you to help you move forward. We are very proud of the effort you have shown and the progress you are making. Keep believing in yourself, keep trying and remember that every small step is a big achievement. Well done, Ann! 🌟

For being a reflective learner. You listened thoughtfully to the ideas of others during carpet time, showing acting listening, and considered how these could support your own learning. During Maths, you asked for feedback on your fact family houses and thought carefully about how you could use this feedback to improve your work. Well done, Vivaan!

For being a collaborative learner. You worked wonderfully with others and showed great teamwork during our Maths Fluency Day STEM activity, where you worked closely with your teammates and took on a leadership role. You are always willing to help your classmates, share ideas, and support others. It is also wonderful to see your motivation in Maths and your willingness to challenge yourself. We are very proud of your teamwork and positive attitude. Excellent work, Suveer—keep it up! 🌟

For being a motivated learner, who was a joy to have in the excursion. Your enthusiasm for learning is infectious, and  you truly engage yourself in your learning  It is wonderful to see you having so much fun in the classroom and being such a great role model for your classmates. You use your initiative when tackling challenging tasks and always put time and effort into your learning! Your colour poem, ‘Green’ is a perfect example of your determination to create imaginative written pieces. Well done Lucas!

This student has shown  resilience in his learning this week. He stayed focused on his goals and put extra effort into each task. This was clearly shown in writing, where he composed a well-thought-out colour poem, and in math, where he persevered through complex angle problems. When faced with a challenge, he actively seeks support, takes feedback on board, and gives it another try with confidence. Well done Rishon!

For being a resilient student, who has given tasks full effort. You approach learning with independence and confidence, always willing to challenge yourself by taking on extension activities. Your focus and determination are evident in the way you engage with tasks, and you have set a positive example for your  peers. Thanks for being a role model in our classroom, showing others what it means to persevere and strive to do your best.

For your creativity and wonderful enthusiasm during Book Week, as you did an amazing job dressing up as a Pokémon character! You participated fully in all our art and craft activities and showed fantastic listening skills for all your teachers throughout the day. Well done, Gunveer!

For being a collaborative learner who has a positive attitude and is excited to learn new things! You consistently use feedback to make you work better and actively participate in new learning tasks.  You are helpful and work cooperatively sharing ideas and listening to your friends in group activities. Keep up the consistent effort.

For showing wonderful motivation in your learning. You have been doing a fantastic job of following the signal signs and staying still and focused during whole-class learning. You listen carefully, stay engaged and show that you are ready to learn. We are very proud of the progress you are making and the positive attitude you are showing each day. For showing all of the learning powers every single day. Your focus and drive to do your best has been clearly noticed. You are a standout team player who gets on with your learning, looks for ways to improve - especially in writing - and always remember classmates who might need a bit of help. You bring a calm, happy presence to our classroom. Thank you, Mia, for being such a wonderful influence in our school.

For being a motivated learner. You show great engagement in lessons, stay focused when the teacher is speaking, and confidently put your hand up to answer questions. You are always willing to work towards your learning goals, seek help when needed, and keep trying during writing tasks. You also show wonderful enthusiasm in AUSLAN lessons and confidently lead the class in signing. We are very proud of your positive attitude and motivation to learn. For being wonderful collaborators who work respectfully and positively with others. You showed fantastic teamwork when working with your partner to create a poster about Caring for Our Common Home. You listened to your partner’s ideas, shared your own thinking, and worked together to produce something you can be proud of. Congratulations, Falak and Kaira!

Driven by curiosity, independence and creativity, you wrote a very moving and reflective piece from the perspective of a giant tree. 

You think deeply about your work and approach your learning with enthusiasm, confidence and a positive attitude.

.This student showed outstanding resilience at the District Athletics competition. Overcoming his nerves across two events, he dug deep, gave it a red-hot go, and proudly earned a ribbon. Congratulations, Jett—your courage, determination, and effort  make us all proud!
