Mini School Updates
Middle School
It has been another busy and exciting few weeks in the Middle School, with plenty happening both inside and outside of the classroom. As we move towards the end of Term 3, we would like to share a few important updates, reminders and celebrations with our Middle School families.
Student Safety – Leaving School Grounds
A reminder to all students and families that students must remain on school grounds during the school day unless they have appropriate permission to leave – this includes signing out on Compass and seeing the MS Office for an early leavers note.
Students who leave the school grounds without permission will receive a formal warning letter for a first offence. Any subsequent incident will result in a suspension. This process is in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students and we appreciate families reinforcing this important expectation at home.
Toilet Access
We are pleased to advise families that student toilets are open and available for students to access throughout the breaks in the school day.
To help ensure our toilet facilities remain safe, clean and appropriately used, access will continue to be managed during class time. Students requiring the toilet while facilities are locked can attend the MS Office, where staff will ensure they are able to access a toilet when needed.
We appreciate students working with us to look after these shared spaces and ensure they remain available, clean and safe for everyone.
Deb Ball Excitement!
There is plenty of excitement building around Middle School as our Deb Ball takes place next week! We know how much preparation has gone into the event and are looking forward to seeing our students enjoy this special occasion. The dancing looks amazing – we can’t wait to watch you all perform!
We hope all of our students involved in the Deb Ball have a fantastic and memorable evening!
Course Selections Complete
A huge well done to our Year 9 and Year 10 students who have completed their course selections for next year. Choosing subjects and pathways is an important step and we have been really pleased with the way students have engaged with the process, considered their options and begun thinking about where their learning might take them next.

We also want to celebrate our fantastic Middle School LIA students who were involved in the production of The Little Mermaid JR!
Productions require an enormous amount of commitment, teamwork, creativity and courage, and it has been wonderful to see our students getting involved and contributing their talents. We are incredibly proud of everyone involved and watching you all on stage, in the lighting box, design scenery and be backstage has been fabulous.
Queensland Camp Payments – Important Reminder
Finally, a reminder to families that all camp payments must be finalised by 15 October.
We ask families to please ensure payments are completed by this deadline so that final arrangements for camp can be confirmed. If you have any questions or concerns regarding payment, please contact the school as soon as possible.
As always, thank you to our students, families and staff for everything you contribute to our Middle School community. There is plenty to celebrate and we are looking forward to another busy and rewarding few weeks ahead.

Senior School
As we head into the final term, our Year 11 and 12 students are busy finishing their assessments and, for those sitting exams, consolidating their understanding in preparation. The second round of GPAs for Term 3 have been released and Parent Student Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday the 17th and Friday the 18th of September. All students and their parents are encouraged to make the most of these opportunities for feedback. Increased and consistent effort and focus in the last part of the year can lead to substantial improvements in results.
Our Year 12s are approaching the end of their 13 years of schooling and we encourage them to make the most of the opportunities provided in these last weeks. We are looking forward to celebrating with them and are planning a range of events for Celebration Day to create some final and lasting memories of their time at Lowanna. The Graduation Evening will be on Friday 21 November at Kernot Hall, our Farewell Assembly is scheduled for the 20th of October and the Year 12 Celebration Day will be on Thursday the 22nd of October. The last day of VCE-VM classes will be on the 20th of October and the final VCE classes will be on the 21st of October. Classes will run as usual until these days.

Practice exams will take place in the first week of the school holidays (Monday 21 – Wednesday 23 September) for all students studying a VCE Unit 3 and 4 subject. These are a vital opportunity to practice under exam conditions, identify areas for improvement and receive targeted feedback before the official VCAA exams begin. The English practice exam will run on the final day of term, Friday 18 September, providing a valuable checkpoint for students’ preparation. All students studying a Unit 3 and 4 subject have now received their official VCAA exam timetable. Please contact the college if you require another copy.
Our Year 12 VCE-VM students are working towards finishing their units and are organising a range of events as a part of their Project classes.
We are in the process of finalising our College Captains for 2027. Speeches for short-listed applicants will take place at the Term 4 assembly before an interview and voting process by peers and staff. This process is an excellent opportunity for students to grow as leaders, give back to the college and leave a lasting legacy.
