We can’t believe we have reached the end of Term 3! It has been such a busy and rewarding term filled with lots of learning and growth. 

We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school for Term 4 on Monday 5th October. 

A reminder that students are required to wear a school hat during Term 4. 

Holiday Learning 

Over the holidays, it would be wonderful for students to continue reading their ‘Just Right’ books that they have borrowed from the library. We encourage students to read for a minimum of 20 minutes, four times per week. 

Students are also encouraged to continue practicing their times tables. They can practice by writing out the times table they are currently working on or by using Hit the Button, an interactive website that many of our Year 4 students have enjoyed using to develop their speed and accuracy with multiplication facts.

Year 4 

In Literacy, we have almost completed our unit on Storm Boy. In Term 4, we will begin exploring our next text, The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. Throughout the unit, students will explore the story and develop their writing skills by creating a persuasive text about robots. 

The Wild Robot follows Roz, an abandoned robot who awakens on a remote island. As she learns to survive in an unfamiliar environment, Roz develops relationships with the animals around her and eventually becomes the adoptive mother of a gosling named Brightbill. The story explores themes of friendship, family, belonging, and the relationship between technology and nature. 

In Mathematics, we have now completed our unit on decimals. In Term 4, we will begin our Data Investigations unit. Students will collect and organise data and create and interpret a range of graphs.
