SUSTAINABILITY NEWS
Our Sustainability and Gardening teams have already had a busy few weeks! The Trinity Trash Transformers collected 519 cans from our school community in the last four weeks of term three! Last Thursday, we logged them all to the Tram and then along the Tram line to deposit them.
Well done to our committed team of Yr 5s who designed this initiative and have been working hard - Abuk, Jasia, Tilda, Nahier, Alex and Cesafino. We now farewell Nahier, Alex and Cesafino and are looking for some Year 4s who can be trained up to help lead this project next year.
Gardening Club have been enjoying all the beautiful flowers we planted last term! Yesterday the students learned how to prune the dead flower heads, encouraging new shoots to grow. We also checked on our happy worms and spread a layer of mushroom compost to help enrich our soil.
Compost Ninjas
Well done to our Year 5/6 Compost Ninja team who collect our food scraps every day and feed them to the worms. By doing this, we save so much waste from going to landfill, helping to reduce methane gas, and therefore global warming. It is so good to know we are doing such a good job of saving our food scraps and turning them into great compost for our gardens!
Have a great week everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
The Sustainability Team - Ms Belinda and the Sustainability Leaders - Anderson, Lula, Clementine and Edith.
