🛌🏻Cebula Boarding

Boarding News
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It's amazing how quickly 2025 has flown!
At last week’s New Boarders’ Orientation, we hosted 23 new boys who will join the boarding house in 2026. It was a great opportunity for them to start making friendships, form connections and begin the journey into boarding life. Our current boarders were excellent as buddies, ensuring that the new boys felt welcome and at ease. Parents were also involved in information sessions designed to help them best support their sons with the transition to residential life.
Despite it being the last week of term, it's certainly been a hive of activity for the boys with the Year 10s on exams, Year 9s on the Rite Journey Camps, Year 8s on the Galilee Retreat and the Year 7s engaged in a series of activities including Cooking at SBC and a Zoo visit.
A big thank you to Chef Tim and his team who put on a sumptuous Christmas Dinner on Monday evening, complete with turkey and ham with all the trimmings, gingerbread cookies, and so much more! It was also wonderful to see that several school staff accepted the boys' invitation to join us at dinner – something I know the boys really appreciated.
On Sunday, 23 November, we farewelled Mr Harvey with a boarding dinner and Mass. It was a special occasion with the boys celebrating Mr Harvey’s wonderful contribution to and support of Cebula House. We wish Mr Harvey well in his new Role as Principal of Chisholm College and look forward to welcoming Mrs Sabrina Hughes in 2026.
As a boarding community, we rely on so many individuals to keep things ticking along. I would like to extend my personal thanks to our wonderful Housemothers Fiona Logan and Leigh Daff, our weekend and weekday supervisors, and the catering, laundry, cleaning and maintenance teams for their support this year.
As we leave for a well-deserved break, the renovation work on Wilson House continues in earnest for the coming months to ensure we are ready to utilise the facility for the start of the new school year.
To all boarding parents, our work was made so much easier throughout the year with your understanding and help, and I thank you for partnering with us and allowing us to be part of your son’s journey throughout 2025.
To all our Cebula boys – thank you for a great year – have a great holiday, stay safe and come back for an even better 2026!
We say goodbye to the following boys leaving Cebula this year and wish them well.
Will L (Year 9), Adam G (Year 10), Jacob M (Year 9), Anthony C (Year 9), Atlas G (Year 11) and Melan K (Year 11).
I wish you all a very happy and blessed Christmas and a New Year filled with health and happiness.
