Principal's Report

It is hard to believe we are here preparing the article for the last Newsletter of 2025.  This year we have celebrated 40 years since the beginning of Nazareth College.  It has been a significant year in our history, which has been well celebrated with our Anniversary Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral, the Anniversary Reunion, Gala Concert and the Nazareth Day celebration at Luna Park.

In our Catholic liturgical year, we experience a rhythm and flow marked by seasons of celebration, preparation and growth.  The liturgical year helps us within the calendar year to celebrate the mystery of Our Lord’s life, death, resurrection, ascension and sending out of the apostles.  We have time to fast and feast, to pray silently alone and in communion out loud with joy.

The 40th anniversary has provided us a season to be in a spirit of reflection, gratitude and celebration in 2025.  It has led us to be more conscious of the journey of this Nazareth Community, where we have come from and how much growth has occurred.  It has led to a deeper gratitude for the hearts that have been touched, the lives that have been shaped and the thousands of people who have moved to grow in faith, wisdom and knowledge through the Nazareth Community.

Our theme this year has been Pilgrims of Hope.  Our College Community and all its members live a life of pilgrimage, a journey in and through God’s grace.  This year we have pondered where we have come from, the hope and vision of the pioneers and the great growth and development that has occurred and continues today.  We are always on a journey, our lives a constant pilgrimage and movement towards God.

This year has been a year of growth.  Each individual has grown as a person, humanly, socially, academically and spiritually throughout the year.  Our school continues to grow not only in numbers, but also in the depth of our Nazarene identity, community spirit and care for one another.  We reflect on how blessed we are to be a part of Nazareth and what incredible, beautiful, generous, kind and thoughtful people Nazarenes are.  We are so grateful for the great people that make up our Community and humbled and honoured to be a part of it.

We give thanks to God for 40 Years of Nazareth, for the countless blessings of the Nazareth Community and all the people who have been part of our 40 year story.  Next year, fittingly, our theme is gratitude, where we continue our pilgrimage together and take time to reflect on all that we have received and all that we have to be grateful for as individuals and as a Community.

Thank you to all students, parents, families and staff for your contribution to Nazareth College.

We wish all families a peaceful and restful holiday and pray that the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Nazarene fills your heart with new and beautiful ways of experiencing His peace, love and joy.
