Term One

Starting with Connection

It's an LCS tradition for our Secondary students to begin the year with camp. It might seem like a hectic way to launch into the school calendar, but we promise that there are some very good reasons for it, and they are summarised beautifully in the LCS core value of Connectedness – with People, Place and God.

Whether we are swinging through the treetops at Hollybank, navigating through the big smoke of Sydney, hiking around Cradle Mountain or exploring Maria Island, our students are given unique opportunities to deepen their relationships with God, each other and the environment.

Our camps set the relational tone for our students for the rest of the year and it is so heartening to observe the growing sense of connectedness. Our prayer is summarised in Romans 12:5 – "In Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."

Swimming Carnivals

Barrow continued its outstanding success in the pool, claiming the win at both the Primary and Secondary LCS swimming carnivals in February at the Riverside Pool.

More importantly, it was great to see such high levels of participation and we were so grateful for the beautiful, sunny weather and the obvious joy students were taking in having a go.

Thank you to Mr Ryan Bosker and Mr Sam de Ruiter and the many staff and parent volunteers for their time and support in helping the carnivals run so smoothly. It was also wonderful to see so many parents and friends in attendance – the best crowds we've had for a while. It makes such a difference for our students, knowing you are poolside, cheering them on!

Secondary Athletics

Our Secondary Athletics Carnival was held at the Northern Athletics Centre in St Leonards on February 27 and WHAT A DAY! Blue sky, sunshine, peak participation from our students, an army of happy helpers and the parent cheering squad ensured a wonderful day. Have you ever stopped to fully appreciate how marvellous our bodies are? The way God made them to walk and run and jump and throw and sprint and leap? Some of us have greater range and pace than others, but our very movement is an expression of God's creative provision, and our athletics carnival was a celebration of that.

1 Corinthians 6:19–20

“Don’t you realise that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honour God with your body.”

Emotional Health

This term, the Primary School has welcomed the amazing team from Inside Out 4 Kids to deliver fun and meaningful emotional literacy sessions. Students are learning to recognise and name their feelings, understand the purpose of emotions, and practise ways to manage big feelings in healthy ways.

Ask your child if they’ve met PJ, Inky, or SuperBrain — and try doing one of their favourite breathing strategies together! Let’s keep growing emotionally strong, resilient kids.

Easter

In the lead-up to the Easter break, we celebrated with two powerful assemblies held across both our Primary and Secondary schools. While the presentations varied, the heartbeat remained the same: celebrating the ultimate sacrifice and love of Jesus Christ.

Easter at LCS gave us the opportunity to pause, reflect and refocus on what truly matters. Our assemblies pointed us back to the heart of the gospel, the sacrifice of Jesus, the depth of His love and the life-changing reality of His death and resurrection.

Our community was reminded that His death on the cross isn’t just something we remember… it’s something that shapes how we live. We’re grateful to be a school where Christ is at the centre not just at Easter, but every day.

"But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed."

— Isaiah 53:5

Basketball Tournament

We had an awesome day at Elphin Sports Centre on Saturday February 21 at the NSATIS Salubrious Super Saturday Basketball Tournament.

LCS played in 11 matches across the day with three of our teams playing three games each. It was awesome to see a large contingent of LCS parents, grandparents, friends and students there to support our teams.

A special shoutout to coaches Mel Myers, Ben Jessup, Brentley Woods and Joey Hammond, as well as the staff that came along on the day – Mr. Guy, Mr. Black, Mr. Jessup and Miss Davies. A massive thank you to Mr Ryan Bosker who organised the tournament and ensured its success.
