God's Love and Care for All

Our Lady's aspires to be a welcoming community unified by love, faith, hope and learning.

Term 4, Week 3

It has been a busy couple of weeks at Our Lady’s, with many wonderful learning opportunities and events taking place across the school. Our Year 5 and Year 3 students have completed their swimming and water safety program at SPLASH, with our Year 1 students looking forward to participating next week. The Year 4 girls visited Mercy College in Coburg. Our Year 3 and Prep students also welcomed their families to their parent engagement evenings,  while our Music Soiree was a great success. Our Year 5 students had the opportunity to learn more about our parliamentary system through an engaging Parliament incursion.

This week, we also welcomed our 2027 Prep students and their families to the beginning of our Headstart Program. The parent talks focused on Religious Education and Wellbeing, giving families valuable insight into these important aspects of learning and life at Our Lady’s as we prepare for the year ahead.

Our school captains also had the opportunity to speak to our families with a focus on our whole school expectations of being safe, responsible, respectful and kind.

Next week, our Year 6 students and several staff will head off to camp at The Ranch. We wish them a fantastic few days filled with fun, adventure and opportunities to build resilience, step outside their comfort zones, challenge themselves and spend quality time with their friends, teachers and classmates. We hope they make the most of this experience and create some wonderful memories.  We wish them a safe journey.

As the weather is now getting warmer, please ensure that your child brings their school hat each day to wear during outdoor play, for outside PE classes and for class sport.  All hats must be clearly labelled with your child’s name to make it easier to return them if they are misplaced or found by someone. Staff will be enforcing our “No Hat, No Play” rule, so students without a hat will need to play in designated shaded areas.  If your child does not have a school hat, they can be purchased from the office.  Thank you for supporting us in keeping our students sun safe!

Social Media Reminder

A reminder to families that primary school-aged students should not have their own social media accounts or access to online social media platforms, including platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat, which seem to be the most popular. We ask parents and carers to ensure this expectation is followed and to actively monitor their child’s online activity. Working together is essential to keeping our students safe and supporting their wellbeing, both at school and at home.

Music Soiree

Last week, we held our Music Soiree, where many of our students had the opportunity to showcase their musical talents through singing and playing a range of instruments, including the keyboard, drums, guitar and violin. Our very own music teachers also kicked off the evening with a wonderful performance.

A big thank you to Mrs Balazs and Mr Lazarus for organising another successful event and for their ongoing commitment to nurturing and celebrating the musical talents of our students. Thank you also to the staff who attended to encourage our performers and to the parents who came along to enjoy the evening and cheer their children on. It was wonderful to see our students share their talents with such an enthusiastic audience.

Events like these remind us of the importance of encouraging our students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new challenges and continue to develop their skills. We are proud of our students for having the confidence to share their talents and encourage them to keep aiming high, pursuing their passions and striving to be the very best they can be.

Athletics Stars Shine at Regional Championships

What a fantastic day for Our Lady's Primary School Athletics. On Wednesday 14th October, five of our amazing athletes took on some of the best young sporting talent in Melbourne at the Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships. A massive congratulations to our five superstars: Chloe Barnes (4C), Ruby Barbieri (5B), Lexi Mickelson (6A), Ryder Cardamone (6B) and Lilly Barnes (6C). By all reports, our athletes gave it everything they had, producing some incredible performances and smashing multiple personal bests (PBs) along the way. It was a wonderful effort from all five students, and they should be extremely proud of themselves for reaching such a high level of competition! But the excitement doesn't stop there…

WE'RE OFF TO STATES!

An incredible THREE of our athletes have qualified for the Victorian State Athletics Championships in Discus. A huge congratulations to:

Chloe Barnes (4C) 1st

Ryder Cardamone (6B) 2nd

Lilly Barnes (6C) 2nd

These three will be heading to Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park on Thursday 29th October, where they will compete against the very best young discus throwers from across Victoria.

To have three students qualify for the State Championships in the same event is an absolutely outstanding achievement and something our whole school community can celebrate. We couldn't be prouder of all five athletes for their hard work, determination and fantastic efforts.

Good luck to our three finalists. Throw far, give it your all and most importantly, enjoy every moment!  GO OUR LADY'S!

Prep Family Engagement Evening

Our Prep Family Engagement Evening took place on Wednesday, providing families with a wonderful opportunity to be involved in their children’s learning. Families participated in a range of fun and engaging activities and games focused on phonics and tricky words. It was lovely to see families working alongside their children, building confidence and celebrating their learning together. Thank you to all the families who attended and contributed to such a positive evening. We appreciate your ongoing support and partnership as we work together to support our students’ learning and development.
