Performing Arts

Ben Venue students recently shone at the 2025 Armidale Community of Schools (ACoS) 'Evening with ACoS' concert held at ASC.
Ben Venue's Senior and Junior choirs joined with choirs from multiple Armidale primary schools, high school choristers from ASC to perform, conducted by our very own Michelle Porter. Our Ben Venue Orchestra students also featured in the Combined School Orchestra. We entered a Circus group, directed by Rebecca O'Hara and a contemporary dance theatre group directed by Lana Howlett. Both of these feature performances did Ben Venue proud and were crowd favourites!
Some of our Stage 3 First Nations students opened the concert with a wonderful performance by the Combined Aboriginal Dance Ensemble.
For many of our students this was their first taste of performance on such a large scale. Special mention must be made of Ella Reid and Michael Cohen-Barnhouse who danced with the Combined Dance Group, which performed an engaging and sophisticated modern dance piece, and of Greta Mulready and Vincent Arakaki who represented Ben Venue by comparing on the night.
Any family and friends who were present at the event can attest to the professional and impressive way in which our students conducted themselves. Ben Venue staff were extremely proud of all students involved.
If you missed this concert you will be able to experience some of these performances at our own Creative Arts Showcase, Thursday 25 September from 6:00 pm. This will be immediately preceded by a P&C BBQ commencing at 5:00 pm outside the school hall.
Hope to see you there!
