Executive Principal's Art Competition Winners

This term, the Executive Principal’s Art Competition celebrated the incredible creativity and talent across both campuses. There was an outstanding number of entries, with each artwork showcasing impressive creativity, imagination and skill. Congratulations to all winners and highly commended students on their wonderful achievements. Winter Warmers 

In Week 7, Tarneit came together for Winter Warmers Day. Students and staff rugged up in their winter favourites, from beanies and scarves to puffer jackets and Oodies, all in support of raising awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness this winter.

It was wonderful to see our community getting behind such an important cause and showing compassion for those doing it tough during the colder months.

2 Weeks Until Mamma Mia!

Our Mamma Mia! musical is just 2 weeks away! Our talented cast and live band have been hard at work rehearsing as they prepare to bring the iconic ABBA hits to the stage, while students and staff behind the scenes have been busy building sets and preparing every detail for the production. Take a look at some behind the scenes shots as the countdown continues!

Interschool Sports Term 2 Wrap Up

Term 2 was another busy one for GNLC Sport, with students representing the College in badminton, soccer, basketball and table tennis. There were plenty of highlights throughout the term. The Year 7 Girls, Year 8 Girls and Year 9/10 Boys Badminton teams all won their divisions while the Senior Girls Badminton and Table Tennis teams progressed through to the next stage of competition. The Year 9/10 Boys Soccer team also had a fantastic campaign, finishing undefeated in pool matches before earning a spot in the Division Final where they went down 2–0 to Al-Taqwa. 

Our Senior Boys and Girls Basketball teams also had some positive results on their competition day. Across all age groups our soccer teams continued to improve and compete hard whenever they represented the College. A big thank you to all staff who gave up their time to coach, manage and support our teams throughout the term. A special thank you to Mr Wilkie for all the time and effort he put into the soccer program and helping our teams throughout the term.

Primary & Secondary School Cross Country Update

During Term 2, 63 secondary school students and 13 primary school students represented the College at Division Cross Country. From the Division stage, 24 secondary school students and 3 primary school students qualified for Western Metro Regionals on 15th June, which was a fantastic effort from everyone involved. A special mention goes to Gianni Arico in Year 10, who qualified for the State Cross Country Championships after a strong performance at Regionals. Gianni will compete at Yarra Glen on 16th July and we wish him all the best.

Year 9 Drama - Excursion to Wyndham Cultural Centre

As a culmination of their Drama in Action unit, the Year 9 Drama students attended an excursion to the Wyndham Cultural Centre. Throughout the unit, students explored how drama can be used to raise awareness of social issues such as homelessness, environmental sustainability, anxiety, peer pressure and racism. The excursion provided an opportunity for students to see how drama exists beyond the classroom and plays an important role within the local community. 

During the day, students participated in a backstage tour, met local theatre makers and learned about arts opportunities available in Wyndham. A highlight of the excursion was the opportunity to perform their final assessment on the venue's stage. For many students, this was their first experience performing in a professional theatrical venue, one that is regularly utilised by local, national and international artists.

Advance Football Academy - GNLC Performance Program

Good News Lutheran College is excited to announce the Advance Football Performance Program for Year 7–10 students looking to further develop their football skills in a high-performance environment. Running every Thursday after school, the program will be led by Coach Mc, current Melbourne City FS Coach. Sessions will focus on technical development, game awareness, decision-making and competitive training, with boys and girls training in separate groups.

Places are limited, and students will be invited to attend a trial before being selected into the program. For more information or to register your interest, please contact Advance Football Academy.
