“The Lord your God is with you… He will rejoice over you with singing.” — Zephaniah 3:17
As we reach the end of term, it is worth reflecting not just on what has been achieved, but on who we are becoming.
Â
Recently, walking through Anakie Gorge, the forest offered a powerful reminder of how growth happens. Clear expectations—stay on the path, protect wildlife, clean your boots—exist to preserve the environment and help it thrive. In the same way, the expectations within our school guide our community. They are not restrictions, but pathways that shape respectful, responsible young people.
Â
At the heart of our community is a simple but important truth: every student is valued. Our worth is not defined by results alone, but by being known and loved by God. This foundation empowers students to learn, take risks, and grow.
Â
Like a forest needing both sunshine and storms, growth comes through both encouragement and constructive feedback. Positive feedback builds confidence, while correction strengthens resilience. When embraced with the right mindset, both help students develop into their best selves.
Â
Excellence, then, is not about comparison. It is about each student striving to use their gifts fully, showing effort, taking responsibility, and committing to improvement. It is the daily choice to grow, rather than settle.
Â
As we look ahead, we continue together—guided by expectations, open to feedback, and committed to becoming the best version of ourselves.
Lord, help us to grow with purpose, to learn from both encouragement and challenge, and to become the best version of ourselves. Amen.
