Year 12 Retreat
This week, our Year 12 students took part in their Retreat Day, beginning with a Spiritual Retreat and wellbeing activities at the Chapel. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to connect with one another, reflect on their Year 12 journey, and strengthen their sense of community. One of the highlights was writing letters of encouragement to each other, creating meaningful moments of support and reflection.
Students and teachers also went head-to-head in a fun game of “Are You Smarter Than a 12th Grader?”, with the teachers taking home the win! To finish the day, students headed to Strike Point Cook for a bowling session filled with friendly competition and memorable moments together. As students prepare for the demanding and study-intensive Term 3 ahead, the retreat provided a valuable chance to recharge, create lasting memories, and finish Term 2 on a positive note before entering the final stages of their VCE studies.
Staff vs Year 12 Volleyball Match
On Tuesday 23 June, our Year 12 students faced off against staff in an exciting end-of-term volleyball match! The game was full of energy, teamwork and plenty of friendly competition, with both teams giving it their all on the court. In the end, the match finished in a draw, with students and staff each taking a game win. A fantastic way to wrap up the term!
Subject Expo
On Tuesday, our Year 9–11 students attended the Subject Expo, exploring the wide range of 2027 subject offerings and learning more about future pathways and subject selection. Families and students also gained valuable insight into VCE, VET, VM and VTAC, helping them make informed decisions for the years ahead.
It was a highly successful evening, with students engaging in meaningful conversations about their interests, goals and future opportunities. Thank you to all staff, students and families who helped bring this important event to life.
Teacher vs Student Debate
After a crushing defeat in the Term 1 Teacher vs Student Debate, the teachers reorganised, developed new strategies, and came back with fiery resolve for another bout. This second Teacher vs Student debate set to settle the score of if schools should support students in their use of mobile phones and social media; a controversial topic, an area of easy condemnation for all sides.
On the teachers' team, we had Mr Bradbury, Mrs Parmar, and Mr Armeni, all fine and talented speakers, masters of their arts. Against them were our top debaters, Johan Simon, Saanvi Mittal, and Aishwarya Yarravajhala, all seasoned leaders in their field.
With strong arguments from both sides, and plenty of friendly banter between the teams, the debate closed to the resounding cheers from the students, for the students, making it clear that there is merit in schools educating youth about phones and social media. The Debate Club is proud of the hard work and skill of our debaters, and grateful for the effort and tenacity of the teachers. Whilst this is another powerful victory for the students, the teachers will not yet yield. Look forward to another Teacher vs Student Debate next term, where we will continue to decide the fate of society in the clash of naivety and obstinacy.

Year 7 Soccer
Congratulations to 7A who, after years of trophyless drought at the hands of 7D, secured the title after a thrilling goalless final against 7C. With excellent all round play and superb goalkeeping throughout, the victors nicked the win in a penalty shootout, winning 2-1 after a stunning save from Yuvam Gupta. Man of the match was the sublime Janjot Shahi. Looking forward to next year's competition already!

Top Arts Excursion
On Tuesday 28 April, VCE Art students visited the Ian Potter Gallery with Ms Cameron and Ms Helmer to explore Top Arts 2026 and gain insight into the creative processes of young Victorian artists.
The exhibition showcased innovative artworks created by students undertaking Art Making and Exhibiting and Art Creative Practice in 2025. Throughout the visit, students examined the artistic processes, experimentation, and decision-making behind the works on display, helping to deepen their understanding of professional creative practice.
Students also attended an introductory talk and folio viewing before independently exploring the contemporary Australian artworks exhibited at NGV Australia, further enriching their VCE Art studies.

Year 7 & 8 Explore NGV
On Wednesday, April 29 (Week 2 of this term), the Year 7 and 8 Visual Arts classes climbed aboard the bus with Ms. Helmer and Mr. McWhinney to Explore the National Gallery of Victoria’s International artworks. On arrival, the students were in awe of the stained-glass ceiling of the Great Hall. We split into year level groups and toured various international works including Picasso’s Weeping Woman, and the like.
The students were introduced to artworks from all around the globe during their NGV visit. Our experienced NGV Educator Guides were John for Year 8 and Angela for Year 7.
The Year 7 group began with an exploration of 3‑dimensional artworks, including Yayoi Kusama’s Dancing Pumpkin (2020), before moving on to a 1,300‑year‑old Chinese ceramic of a Guardian Spirit. After learning about the meaning behind this ancient piece, students were challenged to design their own guardian spirit — with wonderfully imaginative results.
Along the way, it was great to see many students pausing to photograph exhibits that captured their curiosity as we moved from artwork to artwork.
