SUSTAINABILITY NEWS
Looking at Trinity’s Sustainability Goals
Trinity is proud to be a part of CERES’ ResourceSmart Schools, an award-winning Victorian Government program that assists schools to embed sustainability in everything they do.
As part of the program, we are working towards minimising waste, saving energy and water, promoting biodiversity and taking action on climate change to benefit our school and community.
This week Ms Belinda has been working with our mentor from ResourceSmart Schools, to discuss Trinity’s progress. We are aiming to minimise waste, save energy and water, promote biodiversity, and take action on climate change to benefit both our school and wider community.
Our mentor was really impressed with the work we have done and actions we have taken so far, like our Compost Ninjas, the Trinity Trash Transformers and our hopeful move towards solar energy. Through the ResourceSmart Schools program, we are working towards embedding sustainability in everything we do.
Trinity Trash Transformers
The Trinity Trash Transformers are a team of six Year 5 students, who came to the training at CERES, to set up our can and bottle recycling system. Yesterday they collected each class’ collection over the last 5 weeks. They will announce the winning class this Friday at Assembly. Please continue bringing in your empty cans and eligible bottles for us to recycle and raise money for our school. Well done to the TTT eam,
Compost Ninjas
Well done to our Compost Ninja team who collect our food scraps every day and feed them to the worms. By doing this, we save so much waste from going to landfill, helping to reduce methane gas, and therefore global warming. It is so good to know we are doing such a good job of saving our food scraps and turning them into great compost for our gardens!
Have a great break everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
