Principal's News

Dear Families and Friends of Trinity Primary School,

It has been such an exciting week at Trinity with all the Book Week activities and the amazing Book Week Parade on Wednesday morning. It is so good to know that our children have such a great love for literature and that even our oldest students can reflect fondly on their favourite stories from primary school. A very special thankyou to Ms Kate for her organization of this week's events, the teachers and LSO's who have all delivered such great learning around the Book Week books and other famous literature and of course our wonderful hosts Ms Stanton and Mr Gahan for the energy and excitement they both bring to our dress up parade.

Whilst Book Week provides a great opportunity to focus on children's literature, our whole school focus on literacy learning continues to give our children explicit instruction enabling them to build strong skills in all areas of literacy using best practice based on thorough research which aligns with the MACS Vision for Instruction which guides our teaching at Trinity.

School Closure Day

A reminder that next Friday 20th August there will be no classes for children. All staff will be participating in a Staff Professional Learning Day which is one of the six days mandated by MACS for all staff. These days allow for important content to be covered with all staff present in many different areas of school improvement. Whilst we are aware that this can cause some difficulty for families we greatly appreciate your support in enabling us to have these days. We are currently working with MACSEYE to see if they area ble to run a holiday program day next Friday for any families who still require child care.

BOITE Choir

Boite Schools Chorus - Performance Night

Wow! What an incredible opportunity for our students and such a beautiful performance! Forty four of our students performed in Mai Fali Eh - Songs of East Timor to celebrate 50 years since the first Timorese refugees came to Australia. It was so exciting to sing on the Melbourne Town Hall stage! Even the President of Timor came over to watch the show! It was such a beautiful performance, and especially meaningful for our Timorese students, who took a leading role in reading Timorese stories.

I was thrilled with how successful it was. I am in awe of the wonderful and insightful students we had on stage that night.

Thank you to the families who helped students practice at home and our wonderful parent volunteers, who helped us on the day.
Well done to all of them. They sounded beautiful!

Highlights from some students:
Amen - I liked all the hard songs especially Bane be Nanoi. They were hard words but I practised and now I know them all in another language. Learning another language is good!
Georgina - hanging out with the adults, especially the Mums!
Arianda - Especially Mai Mai Mai and Toos Nain and O Crocodile. I liked doing the actions. The town hall was so beautiful and big.
Sophie - I loved being on stage. I made a friend from another school and she had the same glasses as me.
Amelie - I loved being on stage and we got to perform and sing in Tetum - it was an amazing experience! I made a new friend and I told her my name.
Emilio - I liked everyone singing and learning Tetum songs.
Levi - I liked the stories and the songs. I forgot all about being scared!
Please enjoy these photos and our video compilation!

Art Show

The date is fast approaching and we are all getting very excited about our Art Show.  Trinity in Bloom"  Ms Denise has been working extremely hard with her classes and some amazing art work will be shared. We also plan to hear from the BOITE Choir and Ms Denise also has some amazing activities planned for the evening.
