1/2EA - Learning

In Literacy, students in 1/2EA, have been diving into the exciting world of persuasive writing.
We have been reading and analysing books by published authors to notice the persuasive language they were using. For example, emotive language and high modality words which make our writing more persuasive.
After practising writing persuasive pieces about fun topics like our favourite seasons and on whether zoos should be banned, we wrote persuasive letters to persuade someone or a group of people to do something differently.
Some students are working on giving reasons to back up their thinking and learning about the layout of a letter (greeting, body, closing). Other students are challenging themselves by expanding their reasons during the revising stage of writing, organising their writing into paragraphs or including a rhetorical question to strengthen the persuasive effect.
Students want to see swings in the playground, litter being put in the bins, later bedtimes and class pets. Our VERY PERSUASIVE letters have been published, put into envelopes and delivered!
