Book Week - Week Six Monday 24th August to Friday 28th August
Each year at Holy Family we love to celebrate Book Week! Book week is a week designated by the Book Council of Australia to celebrate all things literature and reading.
During this week the following exciting events have been planned -
Monday - Author Louise Park will be leading two sessions based on her working life as a successful author
Kinder - Year 2 - 10am - 10:55am
Year 3 - Year 6 - 11:25- 12:30am

Wednesday - Year 5 and 6 - Write a Book in a Day Competition
Thursday 9am - Book Parade in the hall - All parents are invited (please also dress us!)
Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book (not movie or tv show!) character.
We encourage everyone to use what they have at home to create innovative costumes. There is no need to buy new costumes. There will also be a special Book Week performance by staff.
Friday - Picture Book of the Year Announced
Students this term have been reading the shortlisted Picture Books of the Year. On Monday they will vote for their choice. The students who choose the winner will receive some extra play on Friday as their reward.
ICAS Deadline has been extended to Sunday August 2nd.
Year 3-6 students are invited to take part in the upcoming ICAS assessments at Holy Family. Please find a digital copy of the parent letter below.

Holy Family Public Speaking Competition Term Three
This term, all students at Holy Family will be involved in the annual Public Speaking Competition. This competition is school based and aims to give students opportunities to practice and display important public speaking skills.
Stage One students will be asked to recite a poem.
Stage Two students will be asked to write and present a persuasive speech.
Stage Three students will be asked to write and present a persuasive speech.
Teachers will be sending out emails today via Compass to all classes 1-4 regarding the requirements of the speaking competition. Students may like to start thinking about their speeches/poems throughout the holidays.
Term Three Timeline
Week Two- Class based speeches - 4 finalists will be chosen
Week Three - Grade based finals - 4 finalists will be chosen
Week Four - School finals for Years 1-5 on Wednesday 12th August - parents of finalists will be invited
Kindergarten students will be including public speaking skills as part of their weekly news and more information will be coming to these parents.
Year 6 will be taking part in the CSBB Year 6 Public Speaking Competition which holds a separate final on Thursday 20th August.
School Photo Day - Tuesday 25th August - Full School Uniform to be worn. Ordering of school photos is done via your Compass App.
