Sunny days in the sandpit
BBPS and The Resilience Project celebrated ten years of partnership with a special visit from Martin Heppell. This brilliant program has been an integral part of BBPS's wellbeing offering, focusing on Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy. The program has been evaluated by Australia's leading universities and has been shown to have a significant positive impact on the mental health of children. As one of the very first partner schools we were thrilled to welcome Martin to the school for this celebration.

Fathers Day in Grade 1

Lost in the wild? Ask grade 3!
After reading Hatchet, grade 3 put their survival thinking to the test by creating their own miniature shelters.
During our gallery walk, the kids were so excited to share their creations and see how everyone had tackled the challenge differently. There was so much imagination, clever thinking and creativity packed into those tiny shelters!
Survival, problem-solving and growth mindset - all wrapped up in one very fun way to bring our novel to life. Our main character, Brian, would have been impressed!

Grade 3 takes shape
A week after finishing our 3D shape unit, grade 3 brought the maths back to life with a very creative 3D Shape Gallery.
The children made all sorts of clever creations using spheres, cones, cubes and rectangular prisms. They then shared how many shapes, faces, surfaces, edges and vertices they had used.
Other classes came by for a gallery walk to look at the finished creations. It was so much fun seeing the children use their maths knowledge alongside plenty of imagination and excitement. What a great way to watch their learning take shape - pun intended✨😊

First Fleet Survival Game
Designed in consultation with our vry own Mr Bolger, this game has been a hit with grade 3 students who are learning about the experience of settlers and convicts who travelled to Australia in the 18th Century.

Market Day

Swimming lessons teach children much more than simply how to swim. For our Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students, they provide an opportunity to develop independence, confidence, resilience and important life skills in an environment that is very different from the classroom.
For many young children, swimming involves managing their own belongings, getting changed independently, listening carefully to unfamiliar instructors, following safety rules and routines, waiting their turn, looking after their possessions and navigating a new environment. They learn to cope when something feels unfamiliar or challenging, persist when a skill doesn’t come easily, and experience the confidence that comes from gradually mastering something they could not do before.
So while children are learning to float, kick, breathe and swim, they are simultaneously practising independence, responsibility, resilience, self-regulation, cooperation and personal safety. The swimming itself is important, but the learning surrounding it is much bigger than the pool.
