Our Brilliant Grade Sixes

A highlight for Term 4 is always the graduation of our year 6 - The Class of 2026.

This group have and are excelling in their leadership roles. It is an absolute pleasure to hear how articulate and respectful our students are as they guide visitors to our school on tours, or present to our new families who are enroled for Prep 2027.

Without any scripts they confidently expand on our academic program, the specialist program, the school values, school routines, school events, interschool sport, their leadership roles, the school camping program and special days.

They confidently address and answer questions as Tilly did this week talking about Mathematics assessments and the subsequent maths unit being tailored to suit the learning needs of all students, then being able to expand on our musical production The Magic Library and her role as part of the script writing team.

Will could share his experience with learning the drums and representing the school with fellow band members playing a gig at the Young Creatives Arts festival in Sandringham.

Xander shared how he helps Kurt to raise the flags, and needing to problem solve when the weather has played havoc with the pulley mechanism.

It is endless, in terms of their knowledge of what they love about the school, what their accomplishments are and what they are looking forward to when they are in Canberra.

Parents consistenly feedback the benefits of the Year 6 program and how this confidence supports the smooth transition into year 7.

The Annual Year 6 Canberra Camp

BBPS will soon be undertaking an education tour of the national capital, with grade 6 students enjoying their camp from 5-8 October. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy. The Australian Government recognizes the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to Brighton Beach Primary school in the amount of $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

District Athletics

Once again BBPS has sent an outstanding team of athletes to District Athletics. The below students all qualified to progress to Divisions. We look forward to supporting them next term!

Harper M 9/10 Girls – 3rd 100m (she was bumped up to 2nd and will now compete at Division Finals)

Footy Colours Day 

Footy finals fever has come to BBPS. Tomorrow we have a Footy Colours Day. Thank you to Willow, Flossy, Charlie and Isabelle P for organising it and creating the fabulous poster.
