Volleyball - Interschool Sport

The Year 7 Interschool Sports Nillumbik round was held on 26 March. Eltham teams had participated in the Beach Volleyball Schools Cup a couple of weeks prior, so we were well prepared for their first indoor event of the year. This was the first indoor outing for Eltham’s newest generation of Volleyball players.

All teams demonstrated great improvement and application to the skills and formations they had been taught, and were well supported by their Year 9 coaches and Ms Turner.

A big thank you to the Year 8 students who helped umpire throughout the day.

Both Year 7 teams that played in division 1 were undefeated after the round robin stage. In the final, their opposition started strongly, and both teams found themselves down a set. However they showed great resilience and staged a comeback. Both teams won two sets to one. With these wins Eltham High School has won every Division for both boys and girls in 2024.

The Open Girls team has 7 players returning from 2023. They are joined by four Year 11s and one Year 10. With so much depth and experience, the team won the day and progress to the state final.

The Open boys also successfully won the NMR round and proceed to the state finals. Whilst the team only has three returning players from last year's Open team, the squad consists of 8 Year 12s who have played together for many years. Their teamwork and understanding of each other's game will be a big asset this year.

Volleyball - Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championship

Congratulations to our Eltham High School students that recently represented Victoria at the Australian Junior Championships. Overall, Victoria finished second to Queensland as champion state, and it is great to see Eltham students contribute to Victoria’s overall success. A special mention to Mayra Pacioni (Year 9, Skipper House) who secured a silver medal in the under 15 girls division. Josh Goodman (Year 7, Skipper House) won a gold medal with his team in the under 14 boys division. Congratulations.
