College Principal Report
Appointment of the new College Principal
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Aaron Sykes as the College Principal of Keysborough College from the beginning of next year. Aaron is an experienced principal who is coming to us from Melba College, a government school in the northeastern suburbs.
2024 Campus Captains
I would like to congratulate our Campus Captains for 2024 on their appointment.
At Banksia we have Nida Serath and Tommy Tran and at Acacia we have Palak Arora and Elmin Skopljak. I am sure they will be very successful representing all our students next year. The importance of an effective student leadership team cannot be exaggerated as student agency significantly increases student engagement throughout the teaching and learning process as it increases student motivation. We know that with increased motivation students can feel confident and capable of making changes to their learning environment.
In welcoming the new Campus Captains it is important to thank our 2023 Campus Captains Meychea, Arthur, Alex and Nekeisha for the outstanding way they have performed their duties this year.
Year 12 Graduation Ceremony
The final event for the year for our Year 12 students will be held tonight - Friday 17th November - at the Robert Blackwood Hall at Monash University. It is always a very enjoyable evening celebrating the successes of our students in their final year of schooling and meeting their families. Thank you very much to Senior School Assistant Principals Jono Boyd and Lauran Walters for their work in organising the evening which is a spectacular and memorable event for student, families and staff.
Year 7-11 Presentation Evening
On Tuesday 21st November will be holding our Year 7 – 11 Presentation Evening to recognise the achievements of our Year 7 – 11 students in 2023. It will be held at the Drum Theatre in Dandenong. Thank you very much to all those staff members in organising the evening which is always a spectacular and memorable event.
Diwali Festival
On Friday 1st December from 5pm as we present our very first Diwali Festival in the Acacia Campus Gymnasium. We look forward to seeing you there
End of Year exams
Year 12 Exams commenced on Wednesday 24th October and will extend through to Wednesday 15th November. Reaction from the students so far has been mostly positive with a feeling that the exams have been for the most part ‘straightforward’ except for the well-publicised mistakes on the Maths exams
Year 10 and 11 Exams will be held from Thursday 16th November.
End of Year Timeline for students
- Monday 27th November Headstart Program commences.
- Friday 8th December – Year 10 and 11 students finish.
- Thursday 15th December – House Activities Day for all Year 7 – 9 students
- Friday 17th December – Promotion interviews and parent meetings as required
- Monday & Tuesday December - supervision of students available if required
Building project
In a pleasing development we are about to take possession of the refurbished Music area at Acacia and the Music staff will soon be moving into their new facilities.
The Admin Centre at Banksia remains on track to be completed by the end of the year.
