Improvement Team Reports
Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Improvement Team
We are pleased to announce a new College Assessment & Reporting Policy is now available, this policy will not only benefit our students, but also contribute to the overall educational excellence and transparency that Keysborough College strives to maintain. The policy has been developed to accommodate the diverse learning needs of our students and to establish a consistent framework for curriculum development, assessment, and reporting practices throughout the College.
The implementation of high-quality assessments and reporting practices is integral to fostering transparent communication between students, parents, and teachers. It plays a pivotal role in enhancing student learning, facilitating the development of future learning objectives, and identifying outstanding performance as well as areas that require additional support as we strive to achieve the highest standard across Keysborough Secondary College.
The primary objectives of the new Assessment and Reporting policy are:
- Accurate and consistent assessment: To assess student performance accurately and consistently by continually analysing assessment data and reporting practices.
- Fairness and transparency: To ensure fairness and transparency in the assessment processes, creating a positive learning environment for all students.
- Improving student learning: To enhance student learning by establishing current standards of performance, identifying learning needs, and setting future learning goals.
- Timely feedback: To provide timely feedback to students, parents, and guardians on student outcomes, achievements, and learning growth.
- Enhancing teacher practice: To improve teacher practice by meaningfully reflecting on student performance and understanding, both at the whole-school and individual levels.
Progress Reports
The next cycle of progress reports are now available via Compass. We hope that parents and students find these reports informative and help you to gain a better understanding of each students learning behaviours during the last 7 weeks.
We encourage all families to set aside time to talk with their child about their report. Education is not just about achieving good grades; it's about nurturing well-rounded individuals who possess the skills needed for a lifetime of learning and self-improvement.
The College 5P learning behaviours can help form a strong basis for these discussions (Present, Prepared, Productive, Persistent and Proactive).
- You could ask your child to reflect on these learning behaviours and set some personal goals for next term.
- You could recognise the improvements your child is making with these learning behaviours and celebrate their success.
- You could help your child to identify how their learning behaviours are impacting their learning outcomes.
As we approach the end of Semester all students in Year 7-11 will be preparing for their Semester 2 examinations. Students are required as part of their formal assessment process to complete examinations as this develops exam confidence, exposure to exam terminology and practice with completing timed assessments.
Semester 2 examination schedule:
- Year 7-9: 16th – 24th November
- Year 10 & 11: 17th – 24th November
We kindly request families support their children during this period by ensuring they can participate in these examinations. Extended absences during the exam period should be avoided as they can disrupt the learning and assessment process. Each student will receive a personalised exam schedule, which will be shared with them via Compass. This will help students and families plan accordingly and ensure all students have time to prepared for exams.
We value your interest and support in these initiatives as we continue to work together for the betterment of our school community.
