Campus Principal Report

I can’t believe we are nearly half way through Term 4 already. Our Year 12 students have farewelled the school hosting their Celebration Day Assembly. This special assembly is part of the unique culture of the school, and our Year 12 students come to school dressed up in different themes, they all perform a dance and a song to the entire Campus and present a range of speeches and reflections of their time as a student at the College. Although it is a time of celebration, it really is an emotional day, and many students as well as lots of staff are seen wiping a tear or two or three from their faces. The Year 12 students have completed their final VCE exams and are now eagerly awaiting their VCE results which will be released by VCAA on the 11th December. You only have to look at the walls in the Senior School building foyer to see our Campus Alumni wall boasting a wide range of pathways and careers that our past students are involved in. We are excited to hear about the tertiary courses and Pathway options our Year 12 Class of 2023 will be accepted into.

Year 9 students celebrated their ‘Graduation’ from Junior School in a special appreciation assembly on Monday 6th November. All Year 9 students were presented with a special certificate recognising their effort, achievement and demonstration of the 5P Learning Behaviours that have enabled them to achieve a successful transition to Year 10 in Senior School, which will commence from Headstart week – Monday 27th November.

Our students are encouraged to be productive and positive and to get involved in as many activities as they can across the College and out in the community. They are supported to develop skills and connections that will assist them beyond school, and our staff work tirelessly to provide opportunities for the students to demonstrate and extend these skills. Recently our Year 11 VCE-VM students showcased the community projects they have been working on. Students worked independently to raise awareness and support local community aid organisations and to help less fortunate groups of people. Campus staff have been working with the VCE-VM students to support the Australian charity ‘backpacks4vickids’ by organising donations of Christmas presents for kids in care. We are very proud of our students for thinking of others and giving back to the community.

We have a strong sense of community at the College and we focus on building student citizenship skills as well as developing their self-confidence and leadership. Junior School Leaders from both Campuses recently attended a ‘Leadership Development Camp’ together to focus on effective team work and co-operative skills. Students were provided with opportunities to learn about and actively demonstrate what leadership means and how to be a good role model and student leader. One thing we learned very quickly is that our school is in very good hands because we have some great student leaders !!!

As the school year races to the end, please note a couple of significant College wide events that will be hosted at Acacia Campus. It would be great to see you on Friday 1st December from 5pm as we present our very first Diwali Festival in the Campus Gymnasium.

We will also be holding the annual Second hand Book and Uniform Sale on Saturday 2nd December from 9am – 12 noon in the Acacia Campus Senior School building.

Thank you to all our parents and families for your ongoing support with our many programs.
