Supporting HSC Student Aspiration, Motivation and the Achievement of Personal Bests

From Kindergarten to Year 12 our staff team works tirelessly every day to support students to pursue and achieve their personal best results across the life of our school.

Lifting student aspiration and learning confidence may seem like an easy task, however, it is a journey, not a destination, with every learner having different and unique learning needs to support their growth, maturation and achievement.

As educators, finding the ‘metaphoric key that unlocks aspiration and learning motivation’ for each student takes time, patience, strong relationships and interpersonal connection.

In this edition of our fortnightly Newsletter, our Director of Teaching and Learning K-12, Mrs Brooke Barber, shines a light on students who have achieved an Exceeding result in one or more of their 2026 NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy) assessment measures across years 3, 5, 7 and 9. 

I congratulate these students for their achievements and note that they have demonstrated a level of knowledge, skills, and academic results that are above expectations at a national level for their age and stage of learning.

On a similar note, I take this opportunity to proudly shine a light on the continued dedication and commitment of our HSC teachers and students as they approach the final stages of their Year 12 studies.

It has been terrific to see significant numbers of Year 12 students taking up the opportunity to attend voluntary after school study and examination preparation sessions, in addition to their normally timetabled classes and I am most grateful to our HSC teachers for supporting this initiative.

These sessions help our students to amplify and refine their subject knowledge, seek further support regarding content areas that are proving a challenge for them across their subjects, speak with staff about current challenges and opportunities to support their motivation and aspirations, and most importantly, study and undertake revision in a distraction free environment.

To our Year 12 students – stay focused, a 1% increase in disciplined revision and examination preparation each week between now and your final examinations can translate to a 10% incremental improvement in your final results. Keep working hard and leverage the support network that you have to support you being at your personal best.
