Science Week
Last week, we celebrated National Science Week, and what an incredible week it was! Filled with curiosity, discovery, and hands-on learning, students embraced countless opportunities to explore the wonders of science in engaging and exciting ways.
Throughout the week, students immersed themselves in a wide range of activities. They stepped into the shoes of real investigators during a fascinating Forensic Science Incursion, were captivated by spectacular demonstrations in our Science Show, and explored the wonders of chemistry through exciting dry ice demonstrations. There was great excitement as rockets launched into the sky, inspiring awe and curiosity about the science of flight.
Students also put their problem-solving skills to the test in the Science Escape Room, discovered the universe through telescope tours, and enjoyed exploring the fantastic Science Week displays in the library, which highlighted the many ways science shapes and explains our world.
A huge thank you to our science staff for their hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm in planning and delivering such an engaging and memorable week of activities. Most importantly, thank you to our students for embracing every opportunity to learn, explore, and have fun. Your curiosity and enthusiasm are what made National Science Week such a success
Book Week
That's the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet." - Jhumpa Lahiri. Book Week 2026: ‘A Symphony of Stories’ was celebrated this week at Trinity College with a myriad of fun activities aimed at celebrating the power of the written word and the beauty and joy of reading for pleasure.
Our students enjoyed PCG quizzes each morning, testing their knowledge of various book titles and their characters, the plots of famous novels, and even learned a little more about our TC staff members and their favourite books; while in the library – our Book Week Hub – students were serenaded by some of our talented TC musicians each recess while submitting entries for the Guess the number of pages in a book and the Guess the Book in the jar competitions.
Monday: Students were treated to an energetic and riveting rendition of Dr Seuss’s famous book Oh, the Places You’ll Go! by Mr Walley, who recited his daughter’s favourite book from memory! It was entertaining, fun, and certainly a memorable start to our Book Week festivities.
Tuesday: Books are important because they teach us words, so our indomitable Library staff ran an exciting and challenging Spelling Bee to test our students’ spelling prowess at lunchtime. With the usual thrills and spills that come with trying to remember different parts of the alphabet, students had a great time challenging each other for top spot!
Wednesday: We had a double whammy of the NYT Spelling Bee @ recess and Create your Play Doh character @ lunchtime. BG08 was inundated with groups of students vying for the title of TC’s best NYT speller by creating as many words as they could out of just 7 letters, while others tried their hand at creating famous book characters like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Captain Underpants with Play Doh in the library. Competition was tough once students got into it, but from all accounts, the buzz and energy was certainly palpable and enjoyed by all.
Thursday: Despite a wet and drizzly day, staff and students gathered in Carrigg Court at lunchtime to read their favourite books and highlight that reading can take place anytime, anywhere – all you need is a world to dive into and some choccies for fuel!
Friday: Our very own TC Prefects tapped into their childhood (and current) book inspirations, selected some amazing costumes and treated students and staff alike to a fabulous Prefect’s Parade while the crowd cheered and clapped for their favourite character. Tieg Maher as Ted Lasso took home the chocolates but it was a treat to have such characters as Gustavo the Ghost, Pinocchio, Top Gun and even Joel Selwood make an appearance! Enjoy the photos and see if you can name all the other characters!
Well done and congratulations to all the winners and participants of our various activities and competitions and a big thank you to staff in both the English Department and our Library for all their hard work and enthusiasm in bringing Book Week 2026 to life!

Coming Soon - TC Supporter Merchandise
The Trinity College Parent Council (TCPC) is pleased to advise the development of TC 'Supporter merchandise' is in full swing, and sales will launch in the very near future!
Items that will soon be available for purchase will include t-shirts, crew neck jumpers, hoodies, and a zip-neck jumper. Please keep an eye on the TC communications platforms for more information in the coming days.
Thank you to all those who completed the TCPC's survey last term, and who helped inform the kinds of merchandise that will soon be available to the TC community.
Honours and Colours
All students receiving blazer honours need to have their blazer in the uniform shop by Wednesday, 23 September from 7.30am - 11.00am.
We will arrange for the blazers to be drycleaned. Blazers will be back in the shop ready for collection first day back Term 4, Monday, 12 of October.
Forward Planning for 2027
Families are reminded that, in accordance with the College's enrolment conditions, one full term's written notice is required if a student will not be returning to the College.
If your child will not be returning in 2027, please provide written confirmation to the Registrar no later than Friday, 25 September 2026. Notification should be sent via email to registrar@trinity.wa.edu.au.

Applications for 2029
Early next year, we will commence the interview process for students seeking entry into Year 4 and Year 7 in 2029.
As places in these cohorts are in high demand and fill quickly, we encourage all current families with younger siblings to submit an application as soon as possible if they have not already done so.
Lodging an application early helps ensure your child can be considered as part of the enrolment process and avoids disappointment.

Trinity Ave After-Hours Road Closures
Weeks 3.8 & 3.9 | Monday, 7 September - Friday 18 September
The College has been notified of upcoming required pipe rehabilitation/relining works that will take place in weeks 3.8 and 3.9, necessitating the closure of Trinity Avenue for vehicles, after-hours between 6.00pm - 6.00am.
When: Monday, 7 September - Friday, 18 September 2026
Monday through Friday only; no weekend works/closures
Trinity Ave closed from: 6.00pm
Trinity Ave re-opens: 6.00am (next morning)
During these after-hours timeframes, entry and exit to the College will be undertaken via the Braithwaite Street gate between the Pavilion and Junior School (TC Gate 4).
It is anticipated there should be limited impact on the TC community during this period, given the works take place after-hours.
We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding while these essential works are completed by City of Perth contractors.
Share the Dignity
Trinity College Collection Drive
The Staff Wellbeing Committee is promoting the Share the Dignity Drive. To address period poverty, we are asking that we work together to make a real, on-the-ground difference to the lives of women, girls and those who menstruate or suffer incontinence, who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, domestic violence, or poverty.
Your generous donation of any of the following items will be very much appreciated:
