Care and Connection

Helping Local Charities with Entrepreneurial Enterprise

The Stage 4 Entrepreneurial Enterprise held at the end of Term 3 has once again been a tremendous success, providing students with a hands-on introduction to the world of business. Throughout the learning, students developed their entrepreneurial skills by planning, creating and operating their own enterprise stalls, gaining valuable experience in budgeting, marketing, customer service and financial management.

A particularly meaningful aspect of the learning has been the charity component, which has helped students understand how money can be used to make a positive difference in the lives of others. After repaying their start-up loans and interest, students chose to donate their remaining profits to local charities. Collectively, the cohort raised and donated an incredible $5,030.15! Congratulations to all students on this outstanding achievement!

Puddle Jumpers Visit to 4G

Throughout Term 3, Stage 4 students learnt all about the world of business and had the opportunity to create their own Enterprise stall. After paying back their loans and interest, the rest of the profit is going to a charity that each class has decided on.

4G selected Puddle Jumpers and were lucky enough to have Melanie and Bailee from Puddle Jumpers visit their classroom this week.

Puddle Jumpers is a charity committed to responding to the social development needs of society’s most vulnerable children and young people. The majority of their work is prioritised for children who do not live with their birth parents. They have camps running during school holidays, activity days, op shops and food assistance.

After learning all about business, the charity component of our EE learning has been a powerful reminder to the students about how money can be used in the right way.

The students were hooked by everything that was shared and Melanie was visibly blown away by the incredibly deep and thoughtful questions that the students had prepared to ask.

Congratulations Mrs Janetzki!

Last week our Library Manager, Mrs Wendy Janetzki, celebrated a huge achievement, graduating university with a Graduate Diploma in Information Management (Library and Information Management).

Throughout her studies, she challenged herself, embraced new learning experiences and continued to grow both personally and professionally. We are grateful for the passion, expertise and care she brings to our school community every day and her achievement is a powerful reminder that learning is a lifelong journey and that it's never too late to pursue your dreams. Congratulations Wendy, we are so proud of you!

Not long to go now... We are looking forward to an afternoon of water themed activities. This Sunday, 18th October, from 4pm. Be brave and think about who you might like to invite... Family? Friends? Neighbours? The more the merrier! Due to the nature of the activities, we encourage people to wear suitable clothing e.g. rashie vest, shorts, t-shirts, hat and bring dry clothes to change into afterwards for Worship. Please note: No meal this time... That will be back on next month. See you soon!

Operation Christmas Child

There are many wonderful opportunities around where we can show love and care to people in need of support.  In fact, over the next few months, more opportunities will be presented. Here is just one of them... Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is participating in ‘Operation Christmas Child’!

This offers us the opportunity to share the joy of Christmas through the gift of a shoe box containing gifts for children overseas who normally would not receive anything at Christmas. The children are also offered the opportunity to participate in a series of lessons introducing them to the good news of the gospel.

Have a chat as a family, and if you are interested, either see Georgie or pick up a box and pamphlet in the Church café. Once filled, please return to Georgie or the church office during opening hours with $12.50 enclosed (or paid on-line) to cover the cost of transport and course materials. Boxes need to be returned no later than Wednesday October 14th (Week One of next term) Any questions, please email Georgie or have a chat!
