FAITH MATTERS
MRS ALISON WRIGHT - DIRECTOR OF FAITH & MISSION

As we begin our final term of the school year, we are reminded of the hope, gratitude, and purpose that mark this special time in our College calendar. Term 4 is always filled with moments of both celebration and reflection — a time to look back on all that has been achieved, and to look forward with faith and optimism to what lies ahead.
Next week, we will gather as a school community to celebrate our End of Year Mass, a deeply significant occasion in which we will farewell our Year 12 students. Together, we will give thanks for their years of learning, growth, and service at St Mary MacKillop College, and pray that as they move into the next chapter of their lives, they do so with courage, integrity, and the spirit of Mary MacKillop in their hearts. At the same Mass, we will also acknowledge and commission our newly elected 2026 School Captains, entrusting them with the responsibility of leading our community with faith, hope, and mutual respect.
This week also holds special meaning for us as a Josephite community. On October 17, we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the canonisation of Saint Mary MacKillop — a moment that united Australians in pride and faith as Mary became our first recognised saint. Her words, “Never see a need without doing something about it,” continue to inspire our mission as a Catholic school. Her example of courage, compassion, and service reminds us that holiness is found not in perfection, but in the ordinary, generous acts of everyday life.
As we journey through Term 4, may we continue to live with the spirit of Mutual Respect, our 2025 school theme, remembering that “great is the strength we possess in our unity.” May our community be one that welcomes, encourages, and supports — a place where every person can feel seen, valued, and loved.
Mary MacKillop Prayer
God of the Pilgrim, Mary MacKillop trusted your guidance in her journey of life and deepened her confidence in your will. May we renew our trust in your Providence to lead us to hope as we bring our prayer before you. May we grow in the fullness of your love and the depth of your mystery. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Way, our Truth and our Life. Amen.
Jesus light of the world, guide us
St Joseph, journey with us
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, pray for us
