Swimming Carnival

The Thornbury Swimming Carnival was full of sunshine and excitement as students in Years 7 to 9 and Year 11-12 House Captains proudly dressed in their colours and joined in the events, collecting valuable house points for their teams.
To kick off the day, students from all year levels came together for the highly anticipated lilo race, with Onus claiming the win in a thrilling final. Although Onus had an early lead, Saunders quickly closed the gap, while Blair and Nicholls remained close behind with strong, consistent performances throughout the day.
By the end of the Iron person race - the final event of the carnival - the scoreboard showed an incredible tie: Onus and Saunders were neck and neck on 176 points each. Nicholls secured third place with 155 points, and Blair followed closely with 154. With the cup on the line, one house had to take the win. Each house nominated a final swimmer to race for ultimate bragging rights. In a dramatic final with everyone cheering on the side of the pool, Saunders’ very own Olivia Munro from Year 8 powered home to claim victory, securing the Swimming Carnival win for Saunders!
