Library

Welcome back to the Library for 2026 everyone!

These first five weeks of term have just flown by, jam-packed with the arrival of the stunning new shelves for our Non Fiction books, displays for different events, lively lunchtimes full of board games and Makerspace crafting and fortnightly Wide Reading classes for the Year 7-9s. These initial few sessions involve library orientation for the Year 7s and ‘re-orientation’ for the Year 8s and 9s, getting all students familiar with the Library space and what we have to offer. Students also practiced searching for library books on our online catalogue and of course had opportunities to read independently!

Makespace

The Makerspace has been in full swing so far this year, with students, particularly the new Year 7s, using the LEGO kits and 3D Pens, as well as getting into jewellery making, sewing and crafting with paper and pipe cleaners. If you would like to book in for a crafty session once a fortnight, make sure to sign up at the Library front desk!

Staff Book Club

It was fabulous to kick off the term with our first Staff Book Club meeting on the Monday of the second week. Over the holidays, we agreed to read Pride and Premeditation by Tirzah Price, a retelling of Jane Austen’s classic, with a murderous twist. This YA mystery was a fun read as well as giving us plenty to discuss, and it will be a worthy addition to the THS collection, giving students a chance to read it too.

Last, but certainly not least, I would like to welcome Tanja to the Library! The two of us make a great team and we have many exciting plans for the year ahead!
