This term, the spotlight is on Drama as students explore character, creativity and expression.....

Prep

Our Prep performers have been exploring emotions and how to express them through voice and tone. The students created their own emotion puppets using paper plates and craft sticks, then teamed up with classmates to improvise short puppet shows. The classroom quickly turned into a lively mini theatre, filled with expressive voices, creative storytelling, and plenty of smiles.

Grades 1 and 2

Our Year 1 and 2 students are exploring how to express emotion through acting and storytelling. Over the next few weeks, they are planning, rehearsing, and performing a playful “time out” drama activity, imagining being blamed for something they didn’t do and figuring out how to explain their side of the story. Students are practising strong voices, expressive faces, and convincing emotions as they bring their stories to life. From missing snacks to mysterious mishaps, their performances are full of imagination. The classroom is buzzing with theatrical energy and there has already been some Oscar-worthy performances!

Grades 3 to 6

Our Grades 3 to 6 students have been exploring different characters and emotions in a game called "Character Bus". Each student takes a turn stepping onto the “bus” as a unique character, like a grumpy old man, shy teenager, or spoiled toddler, and uses their voice, body, and expressions to fully bring that character to life. As new passengers join, everyone adapts to be be the same character, creating funny and surprising interactions. The audience then guesses the characters and offers feedback, helping students refine their performances. The classroom has been buzzing with creativity and laughter.
