Welcome to an exciting new year in Middle School! Whether you’re stepping into Year 9 for the first time or beginning your final year in the Middle School, we are thrilled to have you back and ready for a fantastic 2026.
The start of a new school year brings fresh goals, new opportunities, and the chance to grow — academically, socially and personally. We encourage all students to begin the year with a positive mindset, a willingness to try new things, and a commitment to our shared school values.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated and passionate team of teachers supporting our students this year. Our staff are committed to maintaining high expectations while creating safe, supportive, and engaging classrooms.
We encourage families to maintain open communication with classroom teachers throughout the year: working together ensures the best outcomes for every student.
Year 9
Our Year 9 students should be proud of the excellent start they've made to 2026! It has been wonderful to see students returning with growing confidence and maturity as they step into what is such an important year of their secondary schooling.
Through our assembly and in PC classes, there has been a strong focus on setting expectations, building positive classroom routines, and encouraging students to take increasing ownership of their learning. Our teachers are supporting students to learn these skills and have been communicating with families to celebrate success through ‘Green Posts’ related to our College values of Responsibility, Respect, Resilience, and Endeavour.
Our first major event for the year was the Swimming Carnival, and it was fantastic to see so many Year 9 students getting involved: competing in events, cheering on their peers, or contributing to the great atmosphere on the day. Events like this are a valuable opportunity for students to build connection and school spirit.
We’re also very excited to be planning our Year 9 Adventure Day on 27 April. This is set to be a highlight of the year and a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves, step outside their comfort zones, and strengthen connections. More information will be shared soon, including some upcoming fundraising activities!
We’re looking forward to a productive and positive term ahead with our new students. We look forward to working in partnership with families to achieve the best outcomes for our Year 9 students.
Year 10
Year 10s have had a busy start to the year as they stepped into their new electives and have had their first experience with S Tasks and SACs. Students have been able to successfully manage their time with the new demands of school, extra curricular activities, and casual jobs, while still maintaining some time for fun!
We have a group of 6 students who are currently undertaking a Certificate II in Building and Construction through Kangan Broadmeadows, all of whom have shown a phenomenal level of commitment and enthusiasm for beginning their vocational pathway.
As the term progresses, our Outdoor Education students will be snorkelling in Queenscliff and getting close to some seals and keenly keeping an eye out for dolphins. Our Year 1 VET students will also be undertaking their First Aid course as part of their qualification.
Students will be undergoing work experience in Term 2, with their planning forms due in March. Work experience is an exciting time for Year 10 students and their teachers, who are already looking forward to visiting and seeing our students thrive in the working world.
Warm Regards
Midd School Team
