A message from our Principal

Dear Sunbury College school community,

I extend a very warm welcome to all members of our community at the beginning of this school year. I hope the holiday period provided time for rest, connection and renewal, and that our students return feeling ready to embrace the opportunities that 2026 will bring.

The start of a school year is always filled with optimism. It is a time for fresh goals, new friendships and a renewed commitment to learning. For our Year 7 students and families, we particularly welcome you as you join our college community. Transitioning to secondary school is a significant milestone, and we are proud to support you as you begin this exciting journey. To our returning students, we look forward to seeing you build on the successes and growth of previous years.

At Sunbury College, our focus remains firmly on high-quality teaching and learning, strong wellbeing supports, and a culture of high expectations with high support. We are committed to ensuring every student is known, valued, and challenged. Our dedicated staff have been working diligently to prepare engaging learning programs and to strengthen the structures that enable students to thrive both academically and personally.

I would also like to acknowledge and sincerely thank our flag monitors, Amelia and Lachlan, for their outstanding service over a significant time. They have represented our College values of respect and responsibility with pride and consistency. I particularly appreciated the care and leadership they demonstrated in training our new Year 8 flag monitors, ensuring this important tradition continues with the same sense of dignity and commitment. I wish both Lachlan and Ameilia every success in their Year 12 studies, in what will be an important and rewarding year.

This year, we will continue to prioritise student voice, connectedness, and inclusion. Families remain our most important partners in this work, and I encourage open communication throughout the year. I look forward to working alongside our students, staff, and families to make 2026 a year of growth, achievement and pride for our College community.

Best wishes

Craig O’Bree Principal
