Year 11 and 12

Year 11
The 2026 school year has begun in a positive fashion for our new Senior School students, with plenty of excitement and enthusiasm about the upcoming year. The transition to VCE and VCE VM is one of the most challenging that students will face in their education and we continually encourage students to plan for success, and reach out for support when needed.
Year 11 VCE students are well into their first outcomes in their subjects and by now will have had assessments in each subject. VCE students attended a Year 11 Assembly on Tuesday February 3 about “How VCE Works” which outlined the requirements to achieve their VCE in two years and provided them with advice on how they could succeed. Follow up assemblies will also cover the importance of maintaining good attendance as well as reviewing further VCE policies.
Year 11 VCE VM students have started at TAFE and many of them have begun their Structured Workplace Learning. This involves going to places off-site and we commend those who have travelled by train or bus to new locations to meet their TAFE requirements
Year 12
On Thursday 26 February our Year 12 students will attend our annual Big Day Out at RMIT in the city. Our focus for the day is for students to engage in their education and look forward to the big picture and beyond 2026. They will use reflections from the day to guide themselves through the year and hopefully motivate them for great success and completion of their VCE or VCE-VM certificates.
Please make sure that they have their permissions completed and know how the day is going to run, so that they get the best out of everything on offer.
Year 12 is a pivotal year, and it is crucial for students to approach it with focus, dedication, and a positive mindset. As we begin the school year, it's important to highlight several key aspects of our school policies that help ensure a focused and respectful learning environment.
- Uniform: It’s important for students to be in full academic uniform at all times. This includes black full leather lace up shoes. If you are not sure of the uniform required or have questions please see your coordinators. Brunchtime detentions will be issued for breaches in uniform.
- Mobile phone Policy: The school has a clear NO PHONE USE AT SCHOOL policy, which needs to be adhered to at all times. Students seen with a phone will be required to comply with the College Mobile Phone Policy, submit the phone to a staff member, and collect it from the front office at the end of the day.
- Being on time: Class time is a vital part of the learning experience and every minute absent is a minute taken from students’ time to learn. Students need to make sure they are at school on time (before 9am) and on time ready to learn for every class.
- Headphones: If your child finds that they need to have headphones for their private study periods, these need to be corded headphones, with the cord visibly connected to their laptop. Any questions should be directed to the coordinator.
- School Diary use: The school diary needs to be taken to every lesson. This is used to document students’ homework, note goals and guide them in how to make use of their private study sessions. ALL STUDENTS, ALL LESSONS.
Private Study Room: The private study room is currently closed for brunchtime and lunchtime. We are currently working to have this room up and running with the Private Study room representatives working around getting processes and protocols in place before the room opens for 2026.
We’d like to thank those students who are part of the group representing the cohort in getting the room ready; if you have any questions please see your coordinators or PC representative about this.
Thanks for the great start and here is to a fantastic 2026 for all Year 12s.
Warm Regards
Senior School Team
