Valedictory Dinner 2025

On 27 November, we gathered at GMHBA Stadium to celebrate our amazing Year 12 students and everything they’ve achieved.

We were delighted to recognise the Class of 2025 with a Valedictory Ceremony and Dinner, and it was wonderful to have families join us in marking this significant milestone.

We’re so proud of our Year 12s and wish them all the best as they head off into life after high school!

Our SCSC Library

What a year it has been in the library this year, between class visits, incursions and reading activities there has been a lot of fun.

We have celebrated everything from Book week to R U Ok Day. We have celebrated students and their achievements, had some fun events, lots of book talking and sharing and plenty of Trivia competition but mostly we have enjoyed another year of the supportive space the students make in our SCSC library.

We have had some of the library crew students design and paint a mural for my desk, filled with favourite book characters from all sorts of stories, how many can you pick?

I would like to thank Taitum, Matilda, winsome and Skye for their effort and collaboration in getting this done, they not only leave their mark on what was their second home but we now have these special paintings that have already triggered conversations amongst students about how much they loved particular characters when they were younger.

Year 7 Boys Baseball State Finals

Our Year 7 boys headed to Cheltenham on Wednesday the 19th of November to compete in the state finals. Our team consisted of: Marcus A, Owen B, Rollie C, Nait D, Lincoln E, Axel H, Boaz R, Ash R and Harper W.

The boys played very well and were up against some really talented teams. We competed against Viewbank, Templestowe and Elisabeth Murdoch College. Our best result was a tie in our last game.

A big thank you to Mr. Tom Butler for organising the event and helping the team to be ready.

A massive thank you must be extended to our two super helpful parents who drove the team up, thank you very much to both Bec and Debbie for being so involved and so helpful, much appreciated. Well done team!

More Mural News!

Hunter M. (Year 9) wrote a fantastic article for the newspaper, sharing the story behind the design of the new school mural and capturing the excitement of its official opening.

Alongside Hunter’s words are the photographs of Gabriel B. (Year 11), who shot all the images published with the article.

Geelong Youth Engagement  Breakfast

On Friday the 5th of December the Annual Geelong Youth Engagement Breakfast was held at GMHBA. This event brings together local organisations, schools, youth services, and community members who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of Geelong’s young people. The primary focus was celebrating the students who had successfully completed the Geelong Kokoda Youth Program, and hearing their inspirational stories.

Our very own Sienna N. was the keynote speaker for this event. Sienna shared her very personal and honest story to a room of nearly 300 people, and spoke to how much the Kokoda journey had a profound impact on her. Sienna also spoke of how thankful she was for the opportunities Surf Coast has provided her. We are extremely proud of Sienna not only for completing the Kokoda program and the track itself, but of how well she represents the students of Surf Coast Secondary College.

We look forward to nominating a student to participate in this program again in 2026.

Beach Day Celebrations

To mark the end of the school year, our Year 7–9 students enjoyed a fun-filled Beach Day on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, at Torquay Front Beach / Cosy Corner.

The day featured a range of activities, including beach games, rock pooling, sandcastle building, and a beach clean-up session.

It was a wonderful way to finish the year on a high note!
