QT Theatre Workshops with Year 11 Drama

On Thursday 17th July, Year 11 Drama kick started their Scene Project Performance Task with a workshop with QT Theatre’s Kurt Duval. QT Theatre run ‘The Scene Project’ annually, engaging with Queensland artists to generate an original script that schools across the state have access to, developing a performance using the script as stimulus to be showcased with QT Theatre. 

This year’s script, Recalibrate, written by Sam Foster and Hayden Jones from Shock Therapy Theatre, delves into the age old dilemma of decisions that impact what to do with the rest of your life and which pathway to follow after Year 12 finishes. The workshops led by Kurt took students through practical skills to put scenes and subject matter on stage through both dialogue and chorus movement. 

Our students will use the script and workshops to develop their own original drama performance concept which will be showcased to QT Theatre and other schools in Week 8 this term on stage at the Billie Brown Theatre in South Brisbane.
