Good morning and welcome to Week One, Term Three at The Gap State High School. This is a news flash newsletter item from me for this week. Our full and official newsletter will drop next week.
I just wanted to congratulate everyone for getting your young people dressed and ready for Term Three. The school has already settled into a very good rhythm for this term.
More importantly, I want to signpost the many activities that are going to be happening across this term. If you haven’t heard about it already, Thunderbolt: The Musical will be gracing our hall in Week Two. Check out the website, check out the social media, and be sure to log in and purchase some tickets to celebrate the amazing work of the students who have written the script, the music, done all the choreography, staging, costumes, and more. I’m incredibly proud of that group of young students and everything they’ve done. I’m sure it’s going to be a big hit.
Also, we’ve got the Father’s Day Brekkie coming up. There is the opportunity to sign up for the Father’s Day Breakfast. We have an incredible speaker who will be sharing his story at that breakfast. Students and families, rally around your dads or significant males in your families, encourage them to join students for that breakfast.
This term, we’ve also got our online parent-teacher interviews. Report cards will be dropping very soon, if they haven’t already. Be sure to sign up to connect with your student’s teachers so you can talk about what’s next in their improvement journey through their academic endeavors.
We’ve got a public holiday for Show Day coming up, the Year 12 Formal, and a student-free day as well. Also, our Athletics Carnival is coming up next week.
There are many other things on this term’s calendar. In 10 weeks, we are putting a lot of things in, over and above the great teaching and learning that happens here in this school every day.
Finally, we have our School Review taking place next week on Monday and Tuesday. We will have four school reviewers joining our community. They are going to spend a day and a half meeting as many teachers, students, support staff, and specialist staff in our school to talk about what we’ve been doing over the last four years, and help us formulate our improvement plan for the following four years.
In advance, I would really like to thank all the parents, P&C members, subcommittee members, and anyone connected to our school who has taken part in surveys or identified their willingness to be part of the review next week.
Thank you so much for being part of the voice and the feedback around what we do here at The Gap State High School, and what we need to do next to support the continued improvement of this amazing school.
Thanks, everyone. I look forward to seeing you around the ridges.
