P&C Update

Mrs Erin Williams - P&C President

I hope your students have told you about their experience listening to Adair Donaldson speak on legal consequences of actions taken on social media, sharing images, consent and other behaviours teens face, sometimes for the first time, while at high school.

I went to his evening talk for parents and caregivers and I came away with some very interesting insights as well as pride that Adair considered the students at our school to be quite well informed and often mindful of their effect on others.

The P&C plan to continue to fund Adair visiting our school each year to build on this initial education and I hope to see many more parents and caregivers come to the evening talk to understand the huge responsibilities our teenagers face as they enter social media and engaging in and publishing content to outside world.

This week sees Thunderbolt:

The Musical hit the stage. If you don't have tickets- there are still seats available at the Saturday matinee and Saturday night.

Its a great production - entirely student written, directed, acted, crewed and managed. There will also be a bar and canteen running for each show.

There is even merch! Just one more way to engage with the school and see what an incredibly diverse spread of talent we have at  The Gap State High School.

The P&C Executive and the school leadership have been discussing how we can incorporate local businesses and parent work and study experiences into discussions with students considering subject selection and future career/study pathways. We would like to hear from parents and caregivers who would like to share their experiences with students to get in contact with the P&C at info@tgshspandc.org.au so we can kick off some information forums for interested students.

Our next meeting is Monday 11 August at 7:pm in the library. Hope to see you there!
