Chess Tournament

Tuesday 29th July, 14 representatives of the Chess Club played in Viewbank College's first Chess tournament at Alphington Grammar. 

Viewbank came 4th out of 11 schools, with only 1 point difference between 1st & 4th place. 

Each player played 7 rounds. Maanas Neela Yr. 10 received a gold medal and a high distinction, coming 4th overall out of 108 players.

Anuk de Alwis Yr. 7 received a distinction  and Nishi De Alwis Yr. 9 received a bronze medal and a credit, she has also made it through to the Secondary Girls State Final. 

William Zhou Yr. 9, Luke Abbott Yr. 8, Brian Guo Yr. 8, Jason Hao Yr. 8, Gideon Tran Yr. 8 all received Credits. 

All of the mentioned students have also made it through to the Secondary State Open Final next term. 

Congratulations to all students for participating on the day. 

We have another Chess tournament next week at Brunswick secondary College.
