Don’t forget this Thursday, our Year 3-6 students will be heading to Westernport Athletics Track for a day of fun, friendship and community spirit with our fellow Parish schools. Rotating activities will include shot put, discus, long jump, 200m, 400m and 100m sprints and Grade 6 circular relay followed by a brief presentation. Please remember to arrive at school at the earlier time of 8:20am and head straight to your classroom. All important details are available on Operoo.
On Friday August 29th, our St. Brendan’s boys and girls teams will be heading to Jubilee Park to compete in a round-robin style competition against our district schools. We will be travelling there by bus, leaving at approximately 8:50am and will return by 3:00pm. We are looking forward to an exciting day! Further information will follow to all students involved.
All reports were that it was a terrific day. We did really well to win the first game but unfortunately fell short in the second! A huge thank you to everyone involved. The amazing players, Miss Waldock for coaching and our volunteers who assisted. A special thanks to our parents for arranging transport to the game! I hope you enjoy Diesel and Sam’s sports reports on the day.
Division Footy by Sam B
I walk onto the rocky path and onto the grass. I recognise where we are, it is the Mt Martha footy oval, I see my team warming up and running around the oval, so I join and get a footy. We have a bye the first round which is good because we can get an extra warm up. We watch in awe as the ball goes from player to player. There are two fifteen minute quarters, the game ends and Woodlands beat St Joachim's by about 40. Now it is our turn, we are nervous but we play incredibly. Toby, Archie and Diesel work together out of the centre and get it to the forward line for Duke, Jolie and Zac. St Brendan’s (us) win by about 20 and feel pumped going into the grand final against Woodlands. Next second, we run onto the oval and get into our positions and we're ready to play our hearts out. The game begins and we get off to a rough start. Woodlands kicked about five in the first couple of minutes. Then we kicked a couple, but were no match for Woodlands. The game ended and we were all disappointed, but we still had good sportsmanship and shook their hands after the game. Then we had a little presentation where the organiser said her thanks and wished us luck in the future to come.

We finally arrived at Mount Martha. It was a 20 minute drive but we got there on time. When Diesel and I got out of the car we saw everyone waiting down at the footy oval practising. We ran down and started training for the game. We saw our first opponent, Saint Joachims. They were a hard team but we managed to beat them by a lot. We started the final game against Woodlands. We stood no chance against them…they smashed us by 60 points but in the end it was all just a fun game.
