Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of St Brendan’s,
Welcome to Week Four.
It is with a mixture of emotions that I have to let you know that after seventeen years of loving and dedicated service, Emma Chapple, our beautiful and talented Religious Education/Music/Performing Arts teacher, will leave us at the end of Term Three. Emma has been appointed Mission Lead at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools. This is an exciting and prestigious appointment that will take Emma on an exciting journey in the next stage of her career.
Whilst I am unsure just how we will fill the hole she will leave in our Leadership Team and our staff, I invite you all to join with me in congratulating her on this exciting new role. Please rest assured that Emma will remain at St Brendan’s until the end of Term Three and that our very exciting production of Frozen Junior remains safe in her capable hands.
If you see Emma in the playground, please make sure you let her know how much she will be missed and how appreciative you are of all that she’s contributed to the richness and beauty of our school community.
I was delighted to attend Mass at St Brendan’s on Saturday evening where fourteen of our wonderful Year 6 students received the Sacrament of Confirmation. The sacrament was conferred by Father Shymon in the absence of Bishop Tony Ireland who was recently appointed Archbishop of Hobart.
The ceremony was special and very sacred. Our students were joined by their families and sponsors. Five members of our school choir made a special effort to accompany Emma Chapple and Jon and Bill in the band. My special thanks go to Alexis B, Mia F, Emily F, Zara L and Hudson M for sharing their beautiful voices with the parish community.
My sincere congratulations also go to our wonderful Year 5/6 team of teachers and learning support staff for preparing the students so well. Thank you to other members of staff who came to Mass to offer their encouragement and support to our Year 6s.
My thoughts go out to Indi S who became unwell during the ceremony and will now be confirmed next year at St Brendan’s.
I would like to remind families that if you have not yet submitted enrolment papers for your child who will be ready to commence their Foundation year in 2027 to do so as soon as possible. This will assist us in forward planning for the 2027 school year.
I wish you all a wonderful week.
Warm regards,
Sue Carr
