Blessing of 40 Year Commemorative Badges

This year, we mark a very special milestone in the life of our College — 40 years of faith, learning, community, and shared history. Anniversary symbols, such as the badge blessed at our liturgy on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, are more than mere commemorative items. 

They represent the story of those who have helped shape this school across four decades: students, staff, families, and supporters who have contributed to the life of the College through their commitment, service, and example. These badges remind us not only of the past we honour, but also of the responsibility we carry in the present as we continue to build this community's future. 

Thank you, Fr Stanley Devasia, who took time out, probably at the busiest time of the Church Calendar, to lead us in blessing our 40th Anniversary badges. The following is a transcript of the blessing:

God of all beginnings and all fulfilment, we ask you to bless these anniversary badges today. 

They mark forty years of faith, learning, friendship, and service in this school community. 

As these badges are worn, may they remind us that belonging to this school means being part of something bigger than ourselves — a shared story shaped by faith, commitment, and hope. 

Through the example of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, our patron saint, teach us to live out our school expectations each day: to show respect in how we speak, listen, and treat others; to take responsibility for our actions and our learning; to grow in wisdom as we seek truth, understanding, and justice; and to act with courage, especially when doing the right thing is hard. 

May all who wear these badges remember the legacy they have inherited, feel proud of the kindness, effort, and faith they contribute, and be inspired to help build a future where respect, responsibility, wisdom and courage are lived in our classrooms, relationships, and choices. 

Strengthen us to continue the mission entrusted to this school, so that together we may grow as people of faith, hope, and service. 

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.

These commemorative badges will be distributed to students and staff at the start of next term.
