Library Chronicles

There is a lot happening in the library this term as we lead up to Children’s Book Week, which we will celebrate here at KHS from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd August this year.

The week will begin with a Book Title Mash-up competition in the library at lunchtime on Monday, followed on Tuesday by a day to dress up as your favourite fictional character (or non-fictional if you wish!). There will also be a photo booth in the library at lunchtime and prizes for most creative outfits. Just in case you’re all out of ideas, we will have a dress up box too.

On Wednesday, we’ll be holding a Book Trivia competition in the library at recess with wonderful prizes for our winners (hint – may involve books…)

On Thursday, we will be teaching the gentle art of book painting at lunchtime and on Friday during lunch, we will wrap up the week with a book reference Scavenger Hunt.

During this time, we are also raising awareness and funds for the World Literacy Foundation with a read-a-thon that we will launch on Book Week, and gold coin donations from our Dress Up day will also go towards the foundation.

Kempsey Shire Libraries are running a Children’s Book Week competition, and you can find entry forms in the KHS library and information in this newsletter. One of our talented KHS students, Sharayah Fitzpatrick, was a winner last year.

Make sure to check out our new books and magazines and remember we are here to help with any research you may need to do.
