Principal's message

NAPLAN

Over the last two weeks, students have been completing the NAPLAN assessments. This has run smoothly and all assessments will be completed by Monday 31st March. Communication will be shared with families when student results are available.

Attendance

During each term, the Learning Support Team look at student attendance, including identifying individual students who have had a large number of absences, reasons for being away and the number of unexplained absences. 

Each Friday, individual notes are generated to remind parents of absences that have occurred this term where no reason was given. Those notes need to be completed and returned to school, otherwise the absence is recorded as 'unjustified'. Please note that the NSW Department of Education Attendance Policy states that, "Parents are required to explain the absences of their children from school promptly and within seven days to the school. An explanation for absence must be provided to the school within 7 days of the first day of any period of absence."

If your child is absent from school, please go onto the Sentral parent portal as soon as convienent to explain the absence.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Throughout week 11, parent teacher interviews will be held for most classes. This year we are moving towards booking these through the Sentral parent portal. As this is the first time using the platform for interviews, there may be some teething issues we need to work through. If you are having difficulty booking or need to make a change to your booking, please contact the school office for assistance.

Harmony Day

Harmony day was acknowledged today on Friday 21st March, celebrating the cultural diversity across Australia. Students wore orange in recognition and participated in learning activities in the classroom to explore inclusivity, respect and belonging. Thank you to Mrs Ganiatsos who has created a visual representation of the students at Peakhurst Public School within the A Block building. Please come and visit the space when you are here dropping off or picking up your child.
