Anti-Racism Contact Officer and

Religous Intolerance Helpine

All public schools in NSW have at least one Anti-Racism Contact Officer (ARCO). Ms Zanetti is the ARCO at Peakhurst Public School.

Ms Zanetti’s role as the ARCO is important in assisting and working collaboratively with the principal to implement three major aspects of the Anti-Racism Policy:

  1. Provide anti-racism education: support to build staff understanding of the impact of racism on student learning and wellbeing.
  2. Support complaint-handing: advice to students and staff on how to respond when they see or hear incidents of racism.
  3. Monitor incidents of racism: advice on what strategies the school can implement to address racism.

Ms Zanetti is trained to provide advice to parents and carers, and teachers and students about the procedure for resolving complaints about racism. If requested, the ARCO can also act as a support person or advocate during the complaint’s resolution process.
