The Premier's Reading Challenge has begun!

The 2025 Premier's Reading Challenge has begun!
Last year, Peakhurst Public School had a record 291 students show their love of reading by completing the challenge. It would be fantastic to see that number continue to grow this year!
Students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 have books that have been read to them added to their reading logs by Mr McLeod as these students can be read aloud to as per the rules.
You are more than welcome to read and add books with your child at home. Anything you add will be recorded until the challenge is complete.
Students in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are required to read their own books and record them to their individual reading logs as per the rules. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to help them do this. These students have been shown how to record books to their reading logs during a Library lesson.
Students in the Support Unit classes will also have books added to their reading logs by Mr McLeod.
This year's challenge closes on Friday 22 August, 2025.
How to Access the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge at Home
- Go to the Website
- Open a web browser and go to the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge website: 👉 https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html
- Log In
- Click "Logon" on the left side of the page.
- Use your child’s NSW Department of Education username and password (the same login students use on their iPads at school).
- Search for Books
- Click the circle icon in the top right corner.
- Click on "Student Reading Records" in the menu.
- Click "Add a Book" and type the book title or PRC ID number in the search bar.
- Select the correct book from the list.
- Add the Book to the Reading Log
- Click "Add" to save the book to your child’s reading log.
- Repeat this for all books your child has read this year.
- Check Progress
- You can view how many books have been recorded and check if your child is on track to complete the challenge.
💡 Tip: If a book cannot be added to your child's reading log, it may be because it is not on the PRC list or it is below their age level. These books will still count as a "Personal Choice" book, so try adding it that way. Check the rules for your child’s year level.
Happy reading! 📚✨
