STUDENT WELLBEING TEAM UPDATE

IDAHOBIT DAY THIS FRIDAY

Ripponlea students would like to celebrate International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) - Australia.

Hi Ripper Families,

The student wellbeing team have decided to host a pride day on the 20th of May.

The day is called IDAHOBIT which stands for: International day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.

There will be many different activities on IDAHOBIT such as: rainbow themed Snack-Shack, rainbow cake raffle and a rainbow outfit competition with the prizes being snack shack vouchers.

Please dress in any rainbow colours to show your support and bring a gold coin donation!

With the money raised we will give it to Minus 18, which is an organisation that provides support and education to young people who identify as same-sex attracted or gender- diverse.

Thanks,

The Student Wellbeing Team

ACTIVE KIDS ARE SMARTER KIDS - WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY

On Friday 27 May we want to encourage all students to take action and celebrate the Annual Walk Safely to School Day. Although this day is celebrated this Friday, we feel that IDAHOBIT was very important and we didn't want to confuse everyone.

The National Walk Safely to School Day is a community initiative that aims to raise awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking (especially to and from school) can provide for the long term well-being of all students.

Students are able to decorate their shoes or wear crazy socks. We will be on the gates to hand out a special prize. Even if you can't walk to school, we encourage you to walk daily for the health benefits.

Did you know that until you are 10 year's old you should still be holding an adults hand when crossing the road? Check out safety town to learn more about road safety. https://www.safetytown.com.au/

Thanks,

The Student Wellbeing Team
