Tennis

Petar S had a great day at the MacKillop Tennis trials held in Wollongong on Friday 24th February. What a great achievement and experience for Petar to reach this level. We are very excited to announce that Petar has been selected to represent MacKillop as a seed 2 player at the NSWPSSA State Championships in Albury. I’m sure Petar will be working very hard with his coach to prepare him for this event in May.

Rugby League

Zachary C and Jye L attended the Sydney Trial on March 1st. The boys had a great time on the field in such a challenging environment. We are super proud of both boys despite not progressing further.  You have done our school proud. I’m sure they are both looking forward to the Great Whites Legend Gala Day next Tuesday 14th for even more Rugby League fun.

Football (Soccer)

We received the news that half of our Football students have progressed to the Sydney Trial from the Conference 3 Trial in February. Congratulations to Javier P, Olliver JN, Audrey P, Sophie A and Emma B who will progress to the Sydney Trial on the 13th of March. Good-luck on the field!

Hockey

On Monday 27th February Audrey P participated in the Sydney Hockey Trial and has yet again progressed to the MacKillop Trial which is to be held in Canberra on the 5th of May. I’m sure Audrey is getting herself prepared for this event. Well-done Audrey, 2 years in a row!

Netball

Elsie Taylor was selected at the Conference 3 Netball Trial from Monday 27th February and recently competed at the Sydney Trial on March 6th. Elsie was in her element as she hit the court in the extreme heat. Well-done Elsie!

AFL Girls

Sophie A, and Sophia J attended the NSWPSSA AFL Girls Trial on March 6th. Both girls gave 100 percent effort, battling it out in the extreme heat. We have Sophie A who was selected for the Metro East AFL team who will compete at the School Sport Australia Championships in May. Well done girls!

Years 2-6 School Cross Country Trial

A compass notification was sent to all families of Years 2-6 last week with information regarding our annual School Cross Country Trial. The trial will be held at Waratah Cycle Track and surrounding ovals with the option to walk to the oval under teacher supervision or to be dropped off from 9.15am. Students will all walk back to school at the conclusion of the event.

This event is only for students capable of running the distance. The distance and age categories are listed below. If you haven’t done so already please ensure you register your child for this event by filling out the online registration form.Registrations will close Friday 17th March. Students not participating will continue with formal lessons at school as per normal.

Boys and girls will compete separately. The first 4 placing will progress to the Sydney Cross Country Championships held next term. Here are the categories and distances:

  • 8/9 years girls and 8/9 years boys (born 2014/2015) - 2km
  • 10 years girls and 10 years boys (born 2013) - 2km
  • 11 years girls and 11 years boys (born 2012) - 3km
  • 12/13 years girls and 12/13 years boys (born 2011/2010) - 3km

NOTE: If your child is in year 2 and only turning 7 this year, they are still welcome to compete at our school Cross Country Trial however if they receive a 1st-4th placing, they are not able to trial at the next level. If this is the case for your child, I still encourage them to participate as it is a good experience for them and it will provide them with the confidence to do it all over again in 2024.

Students participating can wear their own running attire to school but they must change back into their sports uniform at school after the trial. We are offering this personal choice of attire so students are running in their most comfortable gear.
